St Thomas @ Red Wing 11-27-07

Post by HShockeywatcher »

Last year in the same conference, this year St Thomas was moved to 4A and Red Wing to 1A. Until the last meeting, always a tough and very even battle.

Does anyone have Red Wing's complete high school roster?

STA 3-0

Red Wing started a 9th grader in goal, he did suprisingly well.

SHOTS

STA - 58
RW - 25

(not completely sure on those, they announced them and thats what i heard)

I was pretty impressed by that kid in goal. He's got a future...

Agree with 007....Happened to see this game, and while the shot count was overly generous, this freshman goalie was impressive. My understanding is that the senior with the torn ACL will be back mid- to late-December, and then RW will have two solid goalies.

RW looked nervous early, then played a strong second period (second STA goal came off a fluky bounce from the Zamboni door), but STA's depth wore RW out and the Cadets dominated the 3rd period. They didn't have 23 shots in the period (which is what was announced), but they dominated. Cadets are solid, but not as good as last two years.

Who scored for STA? Is Walters back from Des Moines?

http://www.maxpreps.com/FanPages/BoxSco ... /Minnesota

Maxpreps has shots at:
STA - 49
RW - 25

RW has a freshman in net and STA had a sophomore in net. Both teams probably have a bright future.

Scoring for STA:
Haverkamp, Isackson, Vanelli

I think that they play Orono tomorrow, don't they? I don't know much about Orono...

BUT, Red Wing needs to mind it's defensive strategies with faster teams.... anyone who saw the game last night could probably see the issue I'm talking about here..... too many three on two, two on one situations giving the Cadets some really good scoring opps.
