EASTVIEW - LAKEVILLE SOUTH TIE
This game was what High School Hockey is all about. . . . Eastview should have won the game easily but as I said it was a battle because that is what High School Hockey is all about.
RECAP:
Eastview took it to LV early and dominated the first 10 minutes of the game by outshooting them by 10. They had a goal called off because the ref was in a bad position that would have put them up 2-0. After that the momentum changed as they lakeville kicked in a goal on a quick rebound. It was a shift or two later that the EV defense shut down and gave up another. Maloney had a penalty shot late in the second that could have tied it up but a good save and a little bit of luck because he hit the post kept EV down. They were lucky to make it out of the second period down 2-1 becuase Krob made a couple of big saves. The momentum went back to the lightning in the third. They dominated LV by laying on the shots - i think they outshot LV 39-23. Both goalies played solid and made some huge saves in the OT to keep the game tied.
Overall Perry looked phenomenal for Eastview and even if he wouldn't have burried a couple G's he still would have been one of the top players on the ice. Eastview should have scored a few more goals but missed on their chances.
What did everyone else think about this game?

This was a great game to be at as a high school fan...to bad this recap is from an extremely biased Eastview fan.
couple things about your recap.
1. no lakeville goal was "kicked" in...they were both nice set up plays with a tap in finishing both plays.
2. the eastview goal that was called off was because of an eastview player in the crease interferring with the lakeville goalie. regardless of a refs "angle," a player in the crease, is a player in the crease.
as a fan in the stands, Eastview definetly deserved to win the game, and were the more skilled team. they outplayed lakeville, but ran into a very tough goalie. The lakeville goalie made some huge saves early in the game, and in OT, including a penalty shot. He definetly earned the team its point.
I cant wait for the Eastview, Edina game next Saturday night

Your right it is coming from the point of an Eastview fan but the crease call was not what happend --- I thought they called Goaltender interference; Finage took a shot from the point Yumusaklar made a great blocker save from just outside the crease --- the puck squirted out to the right hash and he moved towards it while Perry came up from behind -- even if Perry wouldn't have gone for the puck Eastview still would have scored the goal because Hakan was out of position. To bad to see a call like that when there was no direct influnce because they were both going for the puck.
If you saw it another way let me know - thats just my biased opinion.
All in all it was what High School Hockey is all about --- good goaltending and great scoring chances.

There is no more rule about a "player in the crease." It is now if he interferes so #2 is a slightly incorrect statement. Congrats to Lakevill on the tie. Glad to see Garrick Perry is showing why he is being recruited by CC.Poor Imitation wrote:This was a great game to be at as a high school fan...to bad this recap is from an extremely biased Eastview fan.

From what I saw in the game obviously Hakan (south's goalie) played very well and South will need that alot this year to win games. But the one other thing I noticed was that it didn't seem like Eastview had alot of jump in there step, they seemed very slow and lazy (at least after the first couple of shifts). If I was the coach from EV I would be pretty upset with some of the effort my kids gave especially some of there better players and first liners.
If 12 from EV puts in one of his many scoring chances EV wins easily. A rebound in the slot with a wide open net and he just misses wide, the penalty shot, and there was one dangle he had where he should have scored. But South also had chances to score like Binders breakaway in OT he just panicked.
Finally I dont know what you guys were watching but I thought EVs goalie looked very shaky. Where is the freshman that played last year or did they just give that kid a start because hes a senior?

I could be wrong but O'shea will be waiting in the wings. I also am not sure if Krob is a senior, I thought he was a Jr but could be wrong. Krob also has not had a ton of playing time on varsity with Denicola and last year O'shea taking over from Benner. As I stated in other threads, EV will have to score a ton of goals to compete against good teams because facing 20 shots, they easily could let in 4 on any given night.eagle4life9 wrote:From what I saw in the game obviously Hakan (south's goalie) played very well and South will need that alot this year to win games. Were we watching the same game . . . . It was 16 Maloney from EV who had the wide open net and the penalty shot where it banked off the post. Perry did have a couple rushes that he could have converted on but again Hakan was playing like a stud. As far as EV's goalie situation O'Shea did play most of the year as a freshman but was shaky giving up quite a few 5 goal performances . . . Krob only played one or two games i believe but didn't play the year before with Dinicola. I didn't see the shakyness you are mentioning I thought he played well stopping some very difficult shots. He could have controlled the rebounds a bit better but didn't have a chance on one of the two goals that went in.
Overall EV should have had 5 goals and Krob did his part to keep him in the game. Hats off to Hakan for the game he played though . . . we'll see if he can keep it up all year.
