I read that article a couple days ago. He seems to only focus on NHL. Yes Minnesota has a team. Yes they sell out their games. Where the Twin Cities separate themselves from the pack is that the participation for its residents is sky-high compared to any other state.

How strong is youth hockey in Detroit? Seriously. All I ever hear about are their sponsored teams. Do they have strong programs beyond that?

What is wrong with Eveleth being Hockeytown USA. Every one knows that it will always be Hockeytown USA and it should never change. They got the Hockey Hall of Fame, Worlds's Largest Stick and the Wall Mural on the Building. People come to Eveleth to see these things and to skate in the Hippodrome. St. Paul Johnson wanted to come up here again just so that they can say they have been to Eveleth. And after all this they aren't even playing the game at the Hippodrome. To me this is just terrible when a team drives that far and expects to play in the Hipp and their hopes are shot down.

Johnson has to fill out a schedule, and they've never been afraid to travel. I think most hockey players in Minnesota would like to play at the Hipp at some point, but I'm not sure that Eveleth was ever a major attraction to the Govs - certainly not "just to say" they've been there. They've been playing in places like Roseau, Two Harbors, TRF, LOW, Crookston, etc. for years. I think Eveleth is just another notch on the belt!

tell them to come up to Bagley or EGF... They need to fill the schedule and they will be a worthy opponent this year... Expect both clubs to be atop the top 5 this year in 8A.
