Love the Wood Stick reference - stop saying it is only B hockey. Is it important to you? I bet it is . B hockey players are not always B hockey players. Development at the youth level varies from kid to kid.

Play hard , have fun, let the chips fall where they may, enjoy the "now" and hang on to the memories.

Good Luck

Jimmy Johnson played some B hockey while growing up..........played in the NHL roughly 13 seasons.

There is an article in the November issue of USA hockey about an EP resident named Andrew Alberts. Apparently, he got cut from association teams, went on to play for BC and is currently playing for the Boston Bruins.

Apparently those players not only cared about B hockey, but hockey in general.

I am sure there are plenty of other stories about similar experiences as the ones listed above.

The article doesn't mention that he was told he'd never play highschool hockey for EP. He enrolled at Benilde, and went on to win the state title with them his senior year. I've seen many, many B players, especially first years, make A teams their second year and become top performers. Kids need to be reminded that this is a marathon, and use disappointment to fuel their drive to be better and better.

Apparently disappointment and rejection fueled Alberts..........nice life lesson.

For those of you who have had the opportunity to watch the EP Bantam "A" team play this year, you know that they are an exceptional group of hockey players. For those of you who haven't seen them play, I highly encourage you to go and see them play. They have a special combination of skill, grit, and most of all teamwork.

Oh, and by the way, 3/4 of that team, played on a Bantam B1 team last year.
