Well this sort of brings the whole poll into question, if they can't get that right. Hopefully they will make a correction in their next poll.

A couple of comments:

1. On the infamous 1A thread, the consensus seems to be that Albert Lea is the strong favorite, yet at No. 20 they are being ranked way behind Austin, which is No. 10.

2. In AA, I am surprised that Hill Murray is not ranked. They look to be very good this year.

Not so sure - EP is ranked ahead of Stillwater, even though Stillwater won State and EP didn't even make it to their section final game. Same with Edina - they are 3rd and didn't make their section final. North Metro is 10th even though they were State runner-up.

I agree somewhat. At least in single A. Austin loss 8 quality seniors and did not reload. Let's play hockey is really not involved enough to account for team changes. I have noticed that after the first part of the sesaon these will all change.

Hard to figure, as they lost much of their scoring punch (5 out of their top 6) due to graduation. Not to worry, their strength has always been their team depth, and no doubt that will be the case this year as well. But No. 3 does seem a bit high, based on last year's end of season results and the graduation of a very strong senior class.

Not true. They are supposed to be balancing last year's results with this years prediction/outlook. Or so I hear.

My best guess is Edina will be in the top 7, maybe top 5. Still too much uncertainty. They lost a lot of senior scoring, but will also replace much of it. They have good skill top to bottom (probably better than last year), but have lost some size and strength.

They looked pretty good at the scrimmages this weekend. They beat Sibley, Simley, Roseville and Centenial. Edina had about 13-14 goals and all four opponents were shut out.

Not true. They are supposed to be balancing last year's results with this years prediction/outlook. Or so I hear.

boblee is right. These rankings differ significantly from the final 07 rankings. My understanding is this is a poll among a selected handful of coaches and/or rankers who volunteer to do this for LPH. I highly doubt each of these people could have a complete picture of what's happening with every team, so it's probably not something we should take a lot of stock in for a few weeks until things begin to shake out.

While I'm surprised the top AA spot in the poll doesn't belong to the defending champ, at least initially, it's easy to see why EP has gotten consideration when you look at the depth and experience of their roster-- mostly seniors with many NDP participants and D1 recruits. This team probably has a pretty good sized chip on their shoulder.

Mr. & Mrs. Ridder couldn't have cared less about hairstyles or fashion. They were the most unassuming couple in Mendota Heights. I think Mr.Ridder had the same overcoat for at least 10-15 years. And I think he drove a Pinto. They were great people and I don't think "Undercover" ever met them.

Hey we called it hockey hair! Mullet is for southern rednecks and Billy Ray Cyrus. What's the difference - I think it's the scars that went with hockey hair. Now the kids call that bozo the clown look "hockey hair".

Hey Dummy....I was dissing the coach....not Mrs. Ridder. If you look carefully at the bottom 2 pictures you will see the x-gopher coach with the EXACT same hairstyle 10 years later you could interchange her in either picture while the LADY (Mrs. Ridder) in the center of the picture understands fashion. Meaning she's subtle and stylish....not like Laura with a bad comb over pull-back do with Billy Jean frames and a pant suit that screams ERA Movement. Don't know what that means....ask your mom.

Finally, the comment meant that the former gopher coach could take a fashion lesson from a real lady in Mrs. Ridder. Meaning try look like a lady instead of an old tomboy.

After seeing Faribault get dominated by LV North and South (2 not so great AA teams) on Friday I don't see how anyone can consider them a contender.
