Clinton will win the Democratic nomination, almost by default.
I dont know about the Republicans.
I dont think Guiliani has the broad based appeal nor the experience needed.
McCain? I dont think so.
Romney isnt the guy.
The Republicans need a candidate that will appeall to a braod base of voters.
Hey, I know , how about a movie actor.
Welll now, there you go again.

Sticking to the intent behind the thread, it'll be Clinton for the Dems in a cake walk.
For the Reps, I think you have to throw out Giuliani for his abortion stance (I hear that doesn't fly too well in the red states, so he'd be virtually unelectable), and McCain & Thompson for their support of the war. I think even the Reps are smart enough to know that despite the fact that most of them voted in favor of it, staying aligned with Dubya on that issue isn't going to help with the popular vote and their attempt to grab those centrist voters. I guess that leaves Mitt.

This is a tough one, it's been a long, long time since both parties were so up for Grabs this close to the election.
To figure it out you have to find out if the masses vote for a candidate or do they vote for the issues.
In a presidential election, I am of the belief that the Candidate's image/personality supercedes the issues, if the masses vote this way, here's how I see it.
Democrats
Clinton - I think America is ready for a woman to lead, but not this one
Obama - I think America is ready for a minority to lead, but he hasn't been in the political trenches at the national level long enough to win
Edwards - a sociology text would define him a white, anglo-saxon, protestant, male. His demographic has owned this election since GW.
Republicans
Thompson - viewed as an actor not a politician (He was great in "Days of Thunder" though)
McCain - he's a republican Edwards
Romney - no
Giuliani - could he win by default? His views will turn off some Red states but he will win a gigantic blue one the republicans haven't had in a while

IS, good analysis but I dont think the nod from the Donkey is "Up for Grabs".
The Dems need to nominate Hilary. If they dont, when are they going to nominate a women? Democrats need to do stuff like that even if it means losing.
Edwards is the Dems version of Dan Quayle..........hey, wait a minute, whats old Danny boy doin these days.

People that are really very weird can get into sensitive positions and have a tremendous impact on history.
Republicans understand the importance of bondage between a mother and child.

What a waste it is to lose one's mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is.
When I have been asked during these last weeks who caused the riots and the killing in L.A., my answer has been direct and simple: Who is to blame for the riots? The rioters are to blame. Who is to blame for the killings? The killers are to blame.
[It's] time for the human race to enter the solar system.

Mars is essentially in the same orbit... Mars is somewhat the same distance from the Sun, which is very important. We have seen pictures where there are canals, we believe, and water. If there is water, that means there is oxygen. If oxygen, that means we can breathe.

I stand by all the misstatements that I've made.
Dan Quayle, to Sam Donaldson, 8/17/89
Clinton - will be the Dems choice and is totally unelectable. Her platform is to throw as much out there as she can and sees what stick. Has it been proven she is a women? I don't believe she would carry the female vote. The feminist vote yes, the female vote no.
Giuliani - unfortunately will be the Republican candidate, but can be electable over Clinton and is the lesser of two evils.
Republicans biggest problem will not be any Democratic candidate, but the splintering of the conservative vote if there is a third party candidate.
I too wish there was another RR out there.

Soem of that stuff is so bizzare, its almost hard to believe that he could say it.
If I hadnt actually heard him say a lot of that, I would think that someone who didnt like our beloved Danforth very much was making it up.
I miss him.
Let's start a "Draft Dan"campaign.
Danny, a nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
We need to be ready for any unforseen event that may or may not occur. Absolutely.

a) She is a woman
b) She is unattractive
c) She is still married to Bill
d) She is a Democrat
e) Other, please specify in the space provided_________________
