I'd be leary of ranking Cloquet so high. They have a lot of question marks this year. Having Jokinen back is huge, but where is the rest of their scoring going to come from. They will need some players to step up in order to compete.elliott70 wrote:boblee wrote:Elliott, and all other Duluth East believers... How do you put this team ahead of Grand Rapids and Elk River, but mainly, Cloquet?
Cloquet returns Justin Jokinen who is the top forward in this second and David Brown who is a top 5 defenseman in the STATE. Please explain, East believers.
Reverse jinx!
Anyone have a preseason HS ranking to share?

I just can't see them being that much better. The northern schools lose great players every year & always seem to bounce back with really good teams. I think it will be a battle between DE, GR & Cloquet. We will see about Anoka......

I agree that school size doesn't matter. But saying your among the best without having the seeds to prove it, IMHO removes you from consideration. I have Class A sized schools in my top ten.Goldy23 wrote:Neut,Neutron 14 wrote:I'd swap Hill and Roseau
Drop Centennial down with DE/Burnsville
Get the Class A's out
Why get the Class A's out? If they have the talent, they belong. Every year there are a couple of teams that deserve to be in the top ten! The size of the school really has no bearing, as what really matters is the quality of the 20 kids on the team!

The only soft spot I see is the one between my legs

We shall see O'Neil,Lesmeister and others in the state tourney..these guys will be pretty good and better than anyone else in that section. I think CNT was referring to Rogers when he said 'you shall see.' Rogers will have a chance as well if they can find a goalie...they have two kids in elite 1 and should have enough up front to be formidible...Silent But Deadly wrote:Can't Never Tried wrote:You shall see!quickgym guy wrote:What I don't understand is how everyone thinks that Anoka is the #1 team in 7AA...I know they are returning some good players, but if you look at last year they had one win against a top tier team (Duluth East). Been thinking about the top 10:
1.) Roseau (Someone will have to take it away from them, been dubbed as one of greatest teams ever)
2.) Edina (best overall talent but forwards can become frustrated by solid defensemen.)
3.) Hill Murray (should be their year..they have solid returners)
4.) Anoka (Solid top 10 players with a couple of exceptional players)
5.) Duluth East (best coaching in state will have these guys going at right time)
6.) Holy Angels (Some great individuals but can they mix as a team)
7.) Centennial (solid defensively and Pitlick kid could come into his own)
8.) Woodbury (Interesting team, could be this years version of Burnsville)
9.) WBL (Young team will need to develop around a solid goalie)
10.) Eden Prairie (Solid defense see if offense can step up)
Left out:
GR: Watched them in summer tourney not very impressive and not very deep
Burnsville: I like their coaching but dont know if they have enough especially when no one will be surprised anymore.
Cloquet: Big/one scorer/might develop but not good enough to start off in top ten
Minnetonka: Should be fun to watch but new coaching situation puts the team in limbo
BSM: Parents loved Hendrickson and then hated him..talented but selfish team will underachieve again.
Wayzata: Not seeing it unless they have some hotshot youngsters..
Others??? Not sure might have missed someone.

OK CNT...if that is truly the case then we finally agree on something..Can't Never Tried wrote:Nope..... I was referring to Anoka...I thought enclosing the quote would be enough of a reference for most as to whom I was referring.HOFam'r wrote: I think CNT was referring to Rogers when he said 'you shall see.'

ANOKA
Here's one reason: Elite League scoring after 6 weeksquickgym guy wrote:What I don't understand is how everyone thinks that Anoka is the #1 team in 7AA...I know they are returning some good players, but if you look at last year they had one win against a top tier team (Duluth East). ANOKA PLAYERS
O'Neill 9 goals, 19 assists, 28 points, 4th in league scoring (06-07 HS season - 50 points) UMD recruit
Scott 7 goals, 1 assist, 8 points (06-07 HS season - 32 points)
Belisle 5 goals, 3 assists, 8 points (06-07 HS season - 38 points)
Lesmeister 2 goals, 0 assists, 2 points (06-07 HS season - 16 points)
CLOQUET PLAYERS:
Jokinen 5 goals, 8 assists, 13 points (06-07 HS season - 50 points)
Brown 1 goal, 4 assists, 5 points
O'Neill, Scott and Belisle only played together on a line during first 7 games of the Elite League...but they will play together during the 07-08 HS season... and will be one of the top lines in the State.

So it's safe to say he knows nothing about the coming season or hockey in general...but he does know how to get a few laughs.Neutron 14 wrote:Wouldn't you think he'd know how to spell it?
1) Roseau (but won't win state championship)
2) Hill Murray (also won't win state...bad chemistry, Flips a choke show)
3) Edina
4) AHA
5) Cloquet
6) Burnsville
7) Anoka

9) Centennial
10) White Bear Lake
...
54) Moorhead
102) Johnson Govs
