They rest Sizemore telling the world the game doesn't mean anything, Lofton reaches to start the game and that is essentially the game.

Must be fun being an Indian fan these days.

the indians do own the twins and santana. They have beaten him 5 times this year. Once again, the twins get shut out. 13th time this season

alexi casilla with 4 hits though, thats a reason to be excited.

Well, I guess we're getting a little taste of our own medicine.

Looking ahead, if the Twins can lock up Morneau, Santana and/or Hunter, and Cleveland can sort out their bullpen in the coming year(s), this has the making of being a real fun rivalry for quite a few years because a lot of the good young players on both teams will be locked up for a while.

Take away Santana & Silva, most of the Twins staff will be tied up for at least 3 or 4 years (mostly because most of them haven't accrued service time to leave). Cleveland has Sizemore, Martinez & Hafner locked up until at least 2010. Both managers will be around for another 3 years at least (barring firing).

It could be a lot of fun for quite a few years.

Morneau is costing himself $$$$ by the day, his arbitration hearing, if it gets there, will be ugly. 7 RBI since July 29th, 1HR since July 23rd.

Castillo is gone, Mauer isn't as durable as the Twins need, and it sounds like Morneau has been figured out or at the very least with Hunter now hitting in front of him opposing pitchers can be a little more careful with him. A Twins lineup without Hunter in it next season could be really ugly and no matter how good the pitching is 1 run won't win the Twins many games.

The Twins rank 13 out of 14 AL teams in Slugging and 27 out of 30 ML teams - 16 of those teams have the pitcher bat

Oh you silly naysayers. 1 run games will not be a problem... Punto is under contract for '08 and I'm sure TR will pick up Rondell's '08 option.

And isn't it almost good news for the long run that Morneau is slumping - hopefully he is costing himself some loot, thereby making more apt to being resigned!

Although, the fact of the matter is that the guy is still going to end up with 30+ HRs and 100+ RBIs, so he won't be cheap (resigning or arbitration) no matter how you slice it.

I was listenig to the Indians broadcast and they had some speculation on Morneau that with his struggling the Twins would be less likely to offer him a 2-3 year deal and probably go with another 1 year deal. They used Cliff Lee as an example, a guy with a great season but is now a 5 million AAA pitcher. Which ultimately makes Hunter that much more valuable.

Morneau had a great run from late last June to the end of this past July, but that's it, beyond that he's really been no better than Dougie Baseball was at the plate but sigificantly worse at first base. How much money do the Twins invest in him? We'e seen he has tremedous potential, but we've also seen he can be brutally bad and deserving of trip to AAA.

The baseball gods greet Kevin Slowey generously again. It is amazing that a guy who is on pace to give up over 70 homers if he tossed 200 innings is on the verge of improving to 4-0.

DH? No. I don't think he's the established type of hitter the Twins need. He did have a nice season last year, but it was atypical of what he had done prior (and sense). Good hitter... I just don't think he's DH worthy.

LF? Well, that might be something. Is he better than Kubel? Probably more talented... definitely more expensive. Might be an pretty good lefty/righty platoon, but if signing him cuts into potential loot that could be used to re-sign Hunter, I wish him the best of luck on the South Side.
