O'Brien signs with Ottawa
Jim O'Brien signed with the Ottawa Senators giving up his eligibility with the Gophers for the 2007-2008 season and will likley play in the Western Hockey League with the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Michigan State junior forward Jim McKenzie recently signed a two-year contract as well with Ottawa. McKenzie is expected to play with Binghamton in the A.H.A.
McKenzie played his sophomore year at Hill-Murray (1999-2000 season) before going to the Ann Arbor program. He also played for Green Bay and Sioux Falls in the U.S.H.L.
McKenzie is a nephew of former New York Islander Dave Langevin.

Jim
I'm not really that surprised. Ottawa spends a 1rd pick on this kid who is still VERY young. Then, he opts to play Defense?!?!? Can you blame Ottawa for wanting him out?
I don't know the circumstances around it, but I'm not surprised he's leaving.
