Yumusakler is light years ahead of arntz...and other than Yumu who is stuck..the best goalies in Lakeville leave Lakeville...
Crandall - STA and now USHL
Sturlaugson - Burnsville
Matt Mcneely- have a reliable source that says we will see him in STA uniform very soon
Get some get some new coaching blood into Lakeville and you may see some players start to stick around.

number one Jiffy: I was simply replying to a topic that makes no sense. Your comparing apples to Oranges...Yumu= 2 years of Vars. playing every game with excellent save % and highly regarding by people outside of Lakeville. Arntz= a couple Vars. starts..less Vars finishes (pulled) 3 wins against A.V, Greenway and JM
You have to admit thats not a fair comparison
2. If your going to make statments and comparisons you should probably have info to back it up.
3. As far as sturlaugson, he played better than Arntz all year, he was benched at the end more than likely because his transfer papers to B'ville were in process in late feb. (I know..my wife works for the school dist.)
So as far as him going to burnsville...I don't know but his papers are good.
So I ask you. Why so high on Arntz ? And why exactly is Sturlaugson not good?
I work with a local goalie school, and I played the position. I watched a number of Lakeville games last year (N&S) and I am giving you an opinion based open educated observations.
Your obviously a friend of Arntz and from North (I've been told you played JV with him) thats great...you are a good friend to talk up a friend and teammate.
I have never put him down, he is a skilled goalie but lets let him get some real Vars time before we compare him with Yumu.
And for what it's worth I am most impressed with McNeely over all of the above..at least in terms of his potential at the position. McN has the skill potential of a Crandall but with a much more even temper & he's humble as well. If he truly is going to STA as I have heard, he will do very well.

Rollie - Nice educated analysis and not just spouting off on the subject.
Yumu has to be considered the best by his record right?
I have to admit that I have not seen the others as much - just a bit of Arntz last year.
However, I don't remember who started in goal for LN against Mayo, but I know he got yanked after 3 quick goals to start the 2nd period. Who was it?
I also saw Yumu give up 2 VERY soft goals against Mayo in the section game (6-4 Mayo win).
I am assuming the transfer kid to Burnsville is good enough to start for the Blaze?

Jiffy...you are funny..."I don't want to bash" (in one post) and then "cokehead" in the next.....hmm
Also I was at the Mayo game...Sturlaugson started and shutout Mayo in the first. Thomas started the second let in 3 quick goals in like 5 minutes and was then pulled. Sturlaugson went back in a shut out Mayo the rest of the way. Lakeville ended up winning the game and just about everyone there would agree that Sturlaugson kept them in the game to get that win.
It was talked about on this blog at the time as an example of the weird coaching in Lakeville. It was probably one of the more strangest things i've seen in a hockey game. You don't see a goalie who is playing well and getting a shutout get pulled very often.
Oh and by the way, Arntz played the JV game and I believe he lost to Mayo.
REGARDLESS of all this...the topic is supposed to be about who is the better Lakeville goalie..and at this time anyone with any hockey knowledge will say YUMU...PERIOD! Arntz may or may not have a fine future, time will tell. Yumu is already there and he has the attention and skill to get a shot at the next level.
Arntz will see a ton of pucks though...North will be a Kennedy-like bottom dweller in the LAKE for a few years, so if he can get stronger mentally, he will do fine. I hope the best for all the goalies mentioned, Lakeville will be a hard place for a goalie to excell for the next few years.
PS JIFFY...Once again I never said your buddy Arntz wasn't good...so I feel no need to go watch him play non Varsity level summer hockey.
But...I did notice Sturlaugson's name in LPH article regarding the Dave Peterson MN Hockey advanced goalie camp...didn't see Arntz in that list???
