Scouting Report:
Angels: Lackey battled through fatigue and frustration during a trying first inning against Texas on Saturday. He faced the entire Rangers lineup and surrendered three runs while throwing more than 40 pitches in the game's opening act. Where many pitchers would falter under such circumstances, the always-resilient Lackey willed himself to pitch another five innings, allowing only one more run in an eventual 9-5 win. Lackey picked up his 12th win to tie for tops in the Majors.
Twins: Silva had a solid outing on Saturday against the A's to pick up a victory. He pitched 6 2/3 innings and gave up three earned runs, although two of those runs scored after he was out of the game. It was his first win after a string of two straight losses. Silva is 4-1 in his career against the Angels with a 3.86 ERA.

Saturday, July 21 Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome | 6:10 PM CT

Jered Weaver, RHP (6-5, 3.36)

Scouting Report:
Angels: In his second start against Texas in 11 days, Weaver pitched seven quality innings, allowing only four hits while striking out six. Two unearned runs prevented the him from getting a decision, making him winless in his past three starts. But after suffering through a series of ailments in the first half, Weaver appears to have finally returned to full strength. The delivery and location of his pitches are as crisp as they've been all year, and Weaver may end up with a season that's a worthy complement to his record-setting rookie campaign.
Twins: Bonser had what both he and catcher Mike Redmond called his best start of the season on Sunday. He came out with a no-decision, but he allowed just three earned runs over 6 2/3 innings while striking out six. He struck out his 100th batter of the season in the fifth inning. Bonser took a loss when he last faced the Angels on June 4, lasting just 5 1/3 innings while allowing six earned runs.

Scouting Report:
Angels: Saunders was called up to fill the rotation spot left vacant by Ervin Santana's demotion to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday. Saunders has seen two tours with the club already this season, including a three-start stint in April and two outings in June. He is 10-3 with a 4.49 ERA in his Major League career (20 starts).
Twins: Even though he put up a masterful performance on Tuesday against the Tigers, Garza got the loss as the Twins dropped the game, 1-0, on one unearned run. Garza went seven innings and mixed his powerful fastball and his off-speed pitches to shut down the Tigers offense. After three appearances this season, Garza has yet to give up an earned run over 15 innings of work

boblee will be there Friday. Twins are 1-0 this season with boblee in attendance.

A stat about Vlad Guerrero caught my eye, apparently he's homerless in his last 18 games. I get a little uneasy when one of the best hitters in baseball comes into town in a slump 'cause you know he's going to break out at some point. The Twins starters have put together 7 good games in a row now since the All-Star break, let's hope they can keep the Angels and Guerrero down this weekend.

Morneau's been in a little funk too since the All-Star break and with Cuddyer hurt and Torii banged up, he needs to pick up the slack. The starters responded when I called them out, let's go Justin!

Morneau just smashed a 2 run homer in the third to put the Twins up 5-4 in a wierd game. Where are all the "faith" based posters tonight?

Wow, scoring runs is a beautiful thing. Just goes to show your pitching can give up a few and all we're missing is scoring a few.

It was a great HR, just wish it didn't have to come at the expense of an outfielder's hand.

Our next ace is pitching today against a guy who's ERA is 2.97 higher than his. He's pitched against the Yankees, Sox, and Tigers with no earned runs, I think he'll do just fine against the Angels.

Now, what we could also use today would be any or all of a Royals upset, Yankees loss, Toronto win, or another Texas win over the Indians. Any or all would be great, but they all mean nothing if we don't win.
