machine

I heard the machine are crazy good for their age..to include a recent split with the Kensington kids from outside St Louis..Tcachuks kids team that has 6 NHL sons playing on it and was the #1 ranked 96 team in the country last year..they are young, but still..

You should get excited. After all, they are TEN! Scouts are already drooling over them. I have heard Lucia has several of them penciled in for the 2014 season. That's correct, they won't be playing any JR hockey.

As a matter of fact, Lucia has been seen at several 96 Machine practices and has been known to attend tournaments the Machine is playing in instead of watching the Advance 17 and Advance 16 kids. He figures that he will gain an edge over other WCHA coaches by following this young group of super over achievers.

Let's see, over zealous parent of 1st born male hockey player SUPER SQUIRT...............correct?

Breakout, comon man. No one wants to hear that. The 96 machine is all about player developement and building character. They are one of the few AAA teams that focus on creating time and space. That is why they are so good, they know how to move the puck better than most high school teams these days.

Personally, I like a lot of what Bernie does. Some parents get too excited about their little super stars. Remember, it's a marathon not a sprint.

Yes, I totally agree. These kids are all not "superstars" though. They work as a team, and that is very unusual at that age. I wish highschool teams moved the puck as well as they do.

I am a big advocate of team philosophy. Star systems seem to prevail in associations. Therefore, the stars don't move the puck much. That is contagious.

Associations need to develop puck movement mentality at an early age and insist on puck movement all the way up. Build that culture and you will have talented teams all the way through high school.

Breakout...I don't have a player with this team or am overzealous. Another Coach and I were talking about a recent tournament I was at and how well I thought a team of 96's played for their age..he just brought up the Machine reference...so you don't need to get all huffy and start throwing stones right away...

96 Machine

Post by skillbuilder »

I agree with Breakout regarding the puck movement mandate but it will never happen in club hockey because it's a primary shinanigan that's attached to it. Although my kid isn't flashy, he moves the puck at an A level because I have mandated he do it all along despite the fact he never gets it back. It's been hard on him but he has moved the puck hundreds of more times than other kids in the club and it's a primary reason he can contribute at a AAA level. There will come a time when it will pay off for him, as the Bantam A and above levels can't compete without it. Breakout seems to see like I do that it's part of the reason Bernie gets such solid developmental results with his Machine teams. It's certainly the primary reason my AAA team competes with teams that have more talent. Time & space, ahhh, the great equalizer...

the 96 machine have beat up on the 96 blades everytime they have played them. im not talking a casual win, im talkin 14-0 scores. it got so bad that the blades dont even want to play the machine anymore.
The 96 machine went down to st. louis in june and played the #1 ranked jr. st. louis blues and went 1-0-2. The machine should have gone 3-0, they played in very close games which is unusual for them, it was great hockey to watch.

Unless they played one another during their first summer of creation (2005), nothing could be further from the truth. The '96 teams have not played one another in 2006 or 2007. They will, however, cross paths in a few weeks @ the Machine's tourney (August 3-5). The current edition of the '96 Blades will contend, but it will be a tough task for them to come out on top. The '96 Machine is the best around; hands down.

96 Icemen

Post by Skill Guy »

I heard the "96" Icemen took the "96" Machine to the limit earlier this year 3-1. The 96 Icemen have a new coach this year. His name Noel Rahn. He recently bought and now who owns the NEW Velocity Hockey Center in Eden Prairie. I know they have only been together for ONLY 2 months or so and they are competing already with the best team in the Machine. This could end up being a good rivalry in the upcoming year's. I assume the Icemen will be making some more additions this winter to their roster to get them to the next level.

Stay tune.

The stench of daddy testosterone permeates this thread.

Were talking about 11-12 year old kids. KIDS!!!

You guys are already counting first round draft picks.

Be proud of your kids effort, not the result.

Perfect breakout!! But I would add a smilie face with these guys!

Neut, keep this to yourself. I am more connected than you think. I just heard from Lucia himself that 5 of the 96 Machine kids have committed to the Gophers for the 2014 season. You will find it in Heisenberg's report early next week. Sandelin indicated he has 2-4 96 Icemen that will be making unofficial visits to UMD next week. \:D/

You know the link, but here it is anyway:

Breakout, you are officially my favorite poster on this forum. I'm laughing my butt off at your hilarious sarcasm. I can just imagine Lucia walking with a kid at recess or better yet at snack time and speaking to him about committing to play for the Gophers.

Hey, I try! :D

I just hope some of the over zealous parents realize that the odds of Jr. playing beyond high school is not great. Not everyone on Bernie's revered 88 team made it to D1. Maybe 33% of them.............great showing. But, the odds are against.

I agree he has a great track record. But, my fear is that a lot of parents will dump thousands and thousands into Bernie's specialized training and may come up disappointed. Many of those parents can't afford to dump those thousands and will do so chasing the dream.

I find it ironic that some of you Bernie Bashers keep bringing up Lucia.
Wasent that Lucia's kid at the 93 Premire last week? I can't believe what a waste of time and money it is for them as there is virtually no chance of a D1 or NHL future.
No, wait a minute, you hockey experts keep telling me it's all about "GENETICS" so I take that back.

What people do with their time or money is nobody's business.
I'm sure they said the same things about Gretzky. Remember, Hockey's not the only thing people are over zealous about.

To give one person credit for these guy's is insane, that is just one part of the puzzle. That being said, this guy run's a very successful business so he must be doing an awful lot of thing's right. Some of the top player's from our area have taken part in his program's and that should be a good testament to what is going on there. If you come from a program that has low fee's, the cost for some of this might seem high, however, put it against program's from elsewhere and it is probably pretty good bang for the buck. Like so many other things, if you don't like what is on tv, turn it off.

Breakout,33% HA I'll have to keep my on you, fact is if your from Mn I like our odds,to each his own, tell your boy's they have no chance,The odds are against them,I'll be tellin my boys the opposite.Do you need the Roster from the '96 machine Or '97's ? you better wright there names down,at least half of them will make it,and I'll take those odds,I'm talking like this and Bernie cut my kid,I believe in what he is doing,I've been there,If a kid commits 100 % to the training there getting it would be hard not to make it,They go 3 times a week most of the summer 2hrs a time,I heard the '96's are going 3 hrs a time. And they start with the biggest best atheletes they can find,And these kids love it,Bernie gets them believing whats wrong with that,If we can't dream we might as well jump off a cliff, yes maybe the dream is some of the parents,Whats wrong with that if the kid develops a passion for it and wants to make it,a good portion of guys in the bigs were pushed by someone and there thanking them today,I'm sure Bernie pushed Jamie You think he's pissed,I doubt it,Thats my take You don't like it Go play on the C team and have fun!!!!!!!!!!
