Nick Leddy from ep

Post by easton7 »

What do you think about Nick Leddy from Eden Prairie? the stud sophmore and going to be a junior. I heard his d partner Alec Rush, who came up early as a freshmen while leddy stayed at bantams. Leddy dominated him last year and he played his first year of varsity while rush played 2 years. Where is Rush going to go and is Leddy getting any looks?

Well, I can tell you Nick Leddy is easily one of the best 91 defensemen in the state right now. I'm very suprised Ann Arbor did not go for this young kid, look for him to be in a Division 1 sweater in the future.

Leddy is a solid player that does many things well but not much exceptionally well. No doubt he is a good player with room to improve.

A hockey friend of mine said he rushed the puck up and walked Nick Jensen at Model Camp today. I am guessing you need to be fairly good to get around a final Advance 17 player.

He was one of many kids seen talking to "Advisors" at Advance sessions at Plymouth. I am guessing the kid is getting looks.

Is he getting an invite to Elite 1? He played Elite 2 last year and with the success he's had this spring, it seems he should be getting a look.

I would suspect he has a tryout offer at minimum. I am guessing that would be similar to any kid making it to the final 51.

Additionally, I have heard that kids that made the National list were automatic invites to Elite 1. Not positive of that.

Does Eden Prairie have what it takes this year to be at the top of the conference? They lose a stud forward in Vranek (UNH). Kruse (Stampede) was a stud forward for that group as well. I believe their D and goal tending were solid last year.

How's the senior class? Will Leddy and Rush be the go to D? Who will be the net minder?

EP always manages to make a run at the conference (winning Lake last year), or in sections. They will be one of the best defensive teams in the state next year. Leddy and Rush seem to get the hype but not much said about Soderberg, a senior who has been developing steadily and made the alternate list (top 10) in Advanced 17's. Look to Soderberg to lead the defense - and team as captain. Between Soderberg, Leddy & Rush (Juniors) and Thompson (Soph) not much will leak through to whoever plays goalie. Netminder is up for grabs but Stypula, who did not see much action behind their senior goalie, will be a contender.

You seem to know Soderberg. I checked the 17 list. There are no alternates listed.

Rush was not on the list either. Tough competition in that group. Only 6 D listed.

To me, Leddy is the top D out of both of them. He plays great D, is smart, good shot and is one of the best skaters in the state. Rush kind of tries to be like Bobby Orr. Tries to do to much, maybe its his dad or maybe he thinks he can play like Ness. Soderberg has a bomb but that's about it. Thompson is a stud for his grade/age. Big, good shot and should be good in the future. He will fit in very nicely. Either way EP will have one of the top defensive teams because they are all good players. They might be a little weak with forwards but have a great defensive lineup. Might be able to contend with Edina out of their section. Still have to go through Minnetonka and Benilde.
