Something of a knockoff of the better known, and more well regarded Chowder Cup, which has become one of the "Big Three" showcase events in the east, along with NAHA and whatever they are calling the biggie in Canada these days.
There were a lot of issues with how things were run, which is to be expected since it was new, and the talent level wasn't on par with Chowder Cup.

Daughter attended it past two years and we found it to be well run. The talent level isn't on par with the chowder cup because most of the girls are younger. At Chowder there is more talent and older girls (those heading off to college) and heavy imbalance in the matchups can occur. For example, some teams last year beat up on other teams 20-1. At Beantown you enter as an individual and the organizers split up the girls in a farily balanced manner so the games are quite competitive. I would say the organizers of Chowder need to run their tournament better. You can run into a team of D1 college players going up against a U16 team.Hux wrote:Something of a knockoff of the better known, and more well regarded Chowder Cup, which has become one of the "Big Three" showcase events in the east, along with NAHA and whatever they are calling the biggie in Canada these days.

If I recall, they lost to the loaded, mighty Polar Bears by 1 goal. Not sure if I'm remembering the correct event.Hux wrote:At Chowder there is more talent and older girls (those heading off to college) and heavy imbalance in the matchups can occur.
