WHATEVER GUY..........
If you want to get all biter about sports talk thats fine. Some people just can't take it when the truth bites them in the ass. All I was trying to do was make a point because numbers cannot lie. If you can't take it that's fine, but don't get all biter about it. Part of being a sports fan is the fun of debating and tearing a hated rival down. If its a personal matter to you I appoligize. I was just backing the fact the UW Hockey has been a more successful program than the U of M because they have hoisted the plaque 6 times to the U of M's 5.
I guess we've beat this matter to death but the numbers are still there to chew on.

I wasn't getting bitter, you were the one who came in trying to start an argument and then got all upset when I pointed out mistakes you were making.wally_wizall wrote:If you want to get all biter about sports talk thats fine. If you're saying that 1 more title over the course of history makes Wisco a better program than that's a pretty crappy argument, it also has nothing to do with what makes Minnesota the state of hockey.

WHAT????
Of course it means wisconsin is a better hockey school. NCAA championships are the cornerstone of any colleges hockey credibility. Thats like me making an arguement that the vikes are better than the bears in football even though the bears have won more Super Bowls. Nobody cares about the NFC North Division winner, they only care about who wins it all.
So my point is, nobody cares that the U of M has a great regular season and wins the WCHA title, the only thing that matters is the NCAA titles which your squad is lacking.

I LOOK AT WHAT MATTERS...........
And what matters are not regular season games. What matters is hoisting the plaque at the end of the year!
So you can have the regular season record, we'll take the hardware.

It's too bad wisconsin didn't even get a chance to defend their hardware this year..wally_wizall wrote:And what matters are not regular season games. What matters is hoisting the plaque at the end of the year!

Re: WHAT????
Alright, so by that logic Minnesota has a better football program than Wisconsin, fair enough. And lacking NCAA titles, pretty sure they're 4th on the list, and they're in ownership of 7 national titles, 2 before the NCAA title was introduced.wally_wizall wrote:Of course it means wisconsin is a better hockey school. LOL...
Blue breeze you are halarious. I like how the technicality comes into play. 7 NCAA titles....HA HA HA! You wish big guy. Only 5, and it hurts.
And yes the U of M has had good football over the years and I agree Wisconsin cannot win a football championship. So obviously the U would be a more credible football program. You have to look at the history of sports not just the present. You and all other gopher fans are so stuck in the Lucia era its halarious. Remember who the dominating teams of the late 70's early 80's and early 90's were? I do, wisconsin! And they just added another in 06, so we've been consistant throughout the decades.

I never stated Wisconsin hasn't been a good squad throughout the years, I just feel your reasoning is a little off. I never said 7 NCAA titles, I know it's 5. There were two national titles before that though, and considering those are all that matter in your world, I figured I would throw that out there.
I guess I can't reason with you since you concede that U football program is better.

I'm confused......
So then whats the point of college sports blue breeze? I was under the impression that to say you were the best at something for that given year you had to win an NCAA championship. Is the point of college sports to have the best reg season record? win your conference tourney? win head to head games? UMMMMMMMMMM NO! Its to win the NCAA titles, that is what its all about. In Wisconsin we don't celebrate mediocrety like you. If we don't win it all it is a waste of a season because our expectations are always high. For gopher fans if they win the WCHA title they are happy. which was why I was referring to you having a trophy case full of scrap metal at mariucci.
So I guess I can't reason with you, because obviously you think the point of college athletics is to not with the NCAA title. HMMMMM VERY CONFUSING!
