Agree with this list above.
Can't comment on Northfield/RW, haven't seen them much.
Lourdes - seemed very young this year, lose some, but had some great sophs and you know they will add some players. Great coaching, imo.
AL - gotta stay with them the way they have carried the 1A banner. Good coaching, tough kids, hadn't noticed how few seniors actually played this year. Best players were seniors, but will replace with good ones. They have a model to follow, that helps.
West - shouldn't have put so much emphasis on this past year being their "chance". Talented kids return, but NU exposed them for what they are. They'll be good, no doubt, but will need to improve to top the new teams that have been added. Tending may be an issue.
Faribault - surprise team imo next year. Tough kids, remind me of AL except a little edgier. If they get focused on simply playing hockey, they will be tough to beat. Work very hard.
Before State Tournament - 93.3%Albert Lea goalie Clay Casanova. His save % was 95 or 93 before the state tournament, does anyone know what his save % is now after the tournament?
Warroad - Stopped 30 of 32
Little Falls - Stopped 35 of 37
Orono - Stopped 14 of 19
Final - 92.5%
Not good to hear he had a bad final game of his high school career, but ZAMBONI, dont think hes the only goalie in the state to have a bad game. Reid Ellingson, Senior Goalie of the Year gave up 5 of 25 shots against Stillwater towards the end of the regular season. There were many more occurances. Bad games happen, I dont think it was since he was playing tougher teams than in section 1A, because look at those first 2 games.

Glad we could answer your question for you. I have a question for you, Zamboni. Where is your kid playing this year? I can't find his name on any of the USHL rosters. Nor can I find it on any NAHL rosters. Did he go Major Junior? WHL? Such a fabulous player, wherever could he be?ZAMBONI wrote:SLAPNASTY. I just asked a question, don't read into it. Who said it was a bad thing?
ZAMBONI
There is a radio show on ESPN Radio called "Mike & Mike In the Morning". Each week they give out an award called the "Just Shut Up" award.
On behalf of the other sane posters on this thread, I would like to award you the inaugural "Just Shut Up" award for Section 1A. Congratulations.
Seriously, I think other people are getting sick of you taking shots at anyone or anything that has to do, or is even barely related to, Albert Lea.
Clay Casanova had a remarkable career at AL. 3 state tournaments in 4 years. There aren't too many other goalies in the state that have ever done that. But yet, you, just pissed off that AL has had success in the last couple years because your boy left you, has to come on here and make absolutely rediculous comments.
Again I would like to congratulate you on your award, in case you forgot,
JUST SHUT UP

You and PUCKHANDLER must be more hurt about the move than me because you can't let it GO. RELAX, HAVE FUN AND SHUT UP. PS. You CHOKED in the Consolation Championship, don't try and BLAME it on me. I tried to warn you guy's about them " HOT GOALIES " up there at the state tournament. EH, Old Timer.

PUCKHANDLER. Things didn't go your way at the state tournament , EH. Don't be a POOR LOSER, there's always next year. You always bring up the past when things are not going your way and your hurting. This is a sign of WEAKNESS. Maybe you can have a nice talk with coach Roy and he will meet you at GROUND ZERO. Hey, If your going to jump off the bridge, give me a call so I can HOLD THE ROPE for you.

Alright Zamboni We/Albert Lea choked in the Consolation Final against Orono. You are right I will give you that. But Zamboni you said I told you so that we/Albert Lea should have watched out for hot goalie. You are retarded in that sense. Clay Casanova our goalie was hot going into the state tournament. He gave up a combined 2 goals in the Section 1A tournament and only against Warrroad. He then gave up 2 against Little Falls with the top line in state with 279 points. He and the the rest of the Albert Lea Tigers had a bad game. They were tired. It is terrible that we ended the season on a horrible note. Oh and once again agreeing with Golfreak that you have just won the "Just Shut Up" award.

Wow. I can't believe you would wish me dead. That's a little harsh. I just wanted to know where your kid was playing. Can't get a straight answer or the TRUTH out of you I guess.ZAMBONI wrote:PUCKHANDLER. Things didn't go your way at the state tournament , EH. Don't be a POOR LOSER, there's always next year. It's a little creepy to have your life threatened. I'm out for good.
Hope everyone has a great spring/summer/fall! Except you Boner.

AL returns goalie Waalkens, defenseman Royce, center Bowman, and probably the MVP of the section tournament, Casey Woodside. I look for this team to be a real contender next year with a nice mix of veteran leadership and some quality young talent. They have a few sophomores now that should contribute big time next year as juniors. I know Lourdes will be tough as always with that one line of all sophomores returning. West is strong with some good core, young talent with that first line leading the way. I'm not sure about Faribault. They always seem to have a lot of talent but can never seem to take it all the way. Don't know much on Red Wing or Northfield. New Ulm, Austin, East, etc. should be down next year.katoguy wrote:I agree, just leave it alone. He might say some stupid stuff but you guys just keep egging it on. Put it to rest please.
What about next year? What do teams have coming back? Any good goalies? Any top tier forwards or D?? Who is the early favorite to take it?
