Ive seen this kid play, 25-30 games and Nico is the real deal ,it's ALL there , excellent speed , superior hands, sees the ice extremely well ,very good shot, can handle the puck, can play physical when he needs to ,and knows when to take his shot or pass it off. i obvously have not seen every player in the state, but he is without question the beast 89 birth year that i have seen. he will only get bigger and stronger (look at his dad ) and he has verbally committed to the gophers.

I have seen this kid play in games and he is pretty good but when he is at practice or off the ice he is a total different person. Talking to some of his teamates I guess he really tends to slack off in practices and doesn't really try and is very cocky. I personally don't like the kid at all when he goes out and tends to take cheap shots and players that are already playing injured.

Everyone from "outstate" was waiting for the "metro" post....

I would not put Youso in the top 3 from Section 7A, let alone the state. Sorry, just the simple truth. He's good, a big kid, with above average speed, but doesn't take over the big game. He gets up ice with the puck but doesn't seem to finish like a top player would. Sure he's still a junior, but the junior class in this state appears to be much more talented overall than the senior class.

I'll be the first to say that Drew LeBlanc is about the least "flashy" player who will put up 3,4,5 pts in a game as quietly as you could. I have a problem giving him the credit he is due because he doesn't appear to put forth the effort on the ice that I'm sure he is capable of. I saw him play in about 5 or 6 of Hermantown's "big" games this yr against top A and AA competition and the first game I noticed a real effort was the Section 7A final. The Little Falls game tonight was another "quiet" performance in my opinion. Did he truely stand out as the best player on the ice? (no) but he sure gets things done. He is one of the best below the hashes in the offensive zone and around the net you'll watch!

I can't say much other than what I see in the state tourney's for Metro players, and most of them are sitting home and watching also.

I will say that Tyler Johnson from Cloquet is a very good explosive player and he is the spark plug to that Cloquet team, it is too bad he had the injury bug set in at clutch time.

I think you underestimate LeBlanc. Yes, he isn't flashy and that makes his play look less impressive. But he does have a good head for the game, makes plays and he did give a good effort on both ends of the rink last night.

I think most people would rather have a "quiet" hat trick and lead a team to a win rather than to be a little more flashy, less productive, and lose the game.

Well that all metro team? are they all seniors? not to sure, but nico is only a junior and played for the U.S olympic team overseas and won second. He also lead that team in scoring. Not to mention he is committed to the gophers as a junior! He supposedly may not be the best "Team-mate" In minnesota, but i know he is a hard worker in the off-season. I do think that He is the best junior player in minnesota, but everyone has their bias. He is flashy and when he plays its jaw dropping! I do think the other players mentioned, white, yuosso, ect. are very good players, and i think that white is definatly one of the best but he is also a senior. Nico on the other hand is a junior who in multiple games has scored over 4 goals. Some say competition, but dont bet on it, he did the same thing overseas against some of the best players in the world. His whole schedule isnt a cake-walk by anymeans. THey played little falls who made it to the state tounry and beat them by four. Hermantown, and lost in double ot. Grand rapids, Hibbing, Cloqeut. All very good teams, but the reason hes not in the state tournment, check ot the section, very tough section, where little falls beat their foe in the section championship by ten. Doesnt sound like a tough section. The cheapshot thing may also be true, but i do know he only retaliates by dong that if he was cheapshotted, otherwise he could muscle up anyone, trust me. i Once again everyone has their own opinion and bias, but i truely do believe he is one of the best hockey players in the state of minnesota, and will go far in his hockey career!

this kid is good and i am glad the gophers got him. UMD probably wanted him especially with niskeinen sp? at UMD from virgina and he has been a great player. he will win mr. hockey next year that is my prediction for the year. since picking holy angels to go to state seems to be a losing prediction. it won't happen 3 years in a row. can it. i hope not

I can't believe more isn't being said about Hermantown's LeBlanc.
Best player on the ice in the LF/Hermantown game, imo. (Many good ones to choose from).
Even Festler and the Hanowski's gave him room out there.
They seemed to know what he is capable of.
Just looked like a really solid player.
Looking forward to seeing what he does vs. Warroad.
And oh yeah, that Pat White guy is pretty good, too.
Can't go wrong with any of these guys.
This is one sport I'd really like to see the Outstate vs. Metro All-Star matchup after the season like they do in football and baseball.
