looks that way doesn't it!?!? That's probably all my kids voting... I've been informed that they have not only found but actually read this now regularly which can be good or bad depending how you look at things... I have had some come in in person to debate/discuss items on here so that is kind of funny...NE14HKY wrote:huh. did Brian get to vote 5 times? LOL

I agree, this section will be a dogfight. Graduation of one or two key players in class A has a huge effect on a team's fortunes because they rarely have the depth underneath as do the AA schools. Simley has a great young group of players that will be a force to be dealt with in coming years, but will need to overcome the graduation of their all-world goaltender. Sibley, SSP, and Mahtomedi have solid teams and will all be there at the end next year. Haven't seen enough of the others to comment.nothernewguy wrote:Boy, I see a lot of parity in this section here. After graduation of some very good players this year I think there may be 4 or so teams really fighting it out in Sections in 07-08

Has Sibley just finished their last of 4 years' experiment with Class AA? I'm not sure I agree with the choice to drop to A. They were relatively competitive in the CSub conference, they split the two games I saw them play this year (both against AA opponents) and their enrollment is 1500+ students. Is 1500 students really eligible for Class A? Obviously I know nothing about the program, but isn't there an enrollment size that seperates A from AA? I can't believe the bar is set as high as 1500.
Does anybody know how they decide these things Sibley and Simley haveBensonmum wrote:Has Sibley just finished their last of 4 years' experiment with Class AA? 1500 and 1200 kids in their schools and they are A and Newcomer to AA Shakopee has about 1100 in their school.

I don't believe that Sibley opted up before, but they may have???hockeya1a wrote:Does anybody know how they decide these things Sibley and Simley haveBensonmum wrote:Has Sibley just finished their last of 4 years' experiment with Class AA? I think that they may have been able to take a deduciton based ont eh new assisted lunch rule maybe???
As to the numbers, remember that they have to be corrected for assisted lunches, and are now counted 9-12 vs. 10-12...

Hockey / Boys & Girls
Boys:
Largest 64 = Class AA
Remainder = Class A
Girls:
Largest 64 = Class AA
Remainder = Class A
I would think that Shak must have opted up and Sibley must be the largest A school?

From the MSHSL Website New School Enrollment Page
http://www.mshsl.org/mshsl/enrollments07.asp
Henry Sibley 1413
Shakopee 1435
Farmington 1436
1435 is the bottom of Class AA as it says on the link below
http://www.mshsl.org/mshsl/news/2007-08enrollclass.asp
So that means Shakopee (no-coop) is in AA and that puts Sibley out. Maybe with the new enrollment classifications it helped and hurt both schools?
