A little self deprivation and some snow shoveling ought to prepare the Catholics for the battles this weekend.
Having the games delayed so as to put another Friday before the finals should help the Catholics.[quote]
If the Catholics were out shoveling instead of watching their hired man do it Friday maybe they would have played a little better. A little lesson in humility and the self reward of hardwork put the public schools in on Saturday and sent the snooty private schoolers home wondering why? Well the old adage that you can't buy your way into heaven applies to the state tournament as well it seems. Sure there will be a few less Hummers, Audi's, and BMW's in the Xcel parking lot this weekend but there will be a lot more hot dog sales on Friday!!!!!

There are fewer Catholic teams this year but there may be no fewer Catholic winners than last year.
But your status as an ignorant phobic will be heightened greatly goldy.
When did the Rochester crowd become large suburban school fans or is that just you?
The fact that you dont like people who drive nice cars must allow you to blend in nicely with the Mayo Clinic crowd down in Rochester.
Again goldy, it isnt the Catholics fault that Rochester high school hockey hasnt been very good lately. You need to look elsewhere. Hey, maybe go blame the doctors down there. They all have money too.

Well elliott, I am disappointed.
I was lookng forward to a Friday night of tuna casorole followed by say: AHA vs Edina at 7:00 and Moorhead vs CDH or HM or something along those lines at 9:00.
But thats not the way it happened so there is no sense whining about it. I am not about to give away my tickets.
There are some teams that havent been there for a while and, in Woodbury's case , never. I guess thats a good thing but in an ideal world it would happen next year when some of the top teams mentioned will be down.
Anyway, we cant waiste any of the 40 glorious days of Lent in mourning for what could have been.
What will be is more important.
What will be is somthing wonderful.
The Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournamnet.
We have Waited Until Lent for it to happen and in just a few days it will.
AP, thanks for the pairings. It looks like an all green deal to me.
Which green is it gonna be?
Well, thats "In His hands"

Christians, Muslims, and Jews all recognize a heaven as a destination for the soul once their Earthly time has expired. Buddhists and Hindus recognize not so much a heaven, rather, a perfect state of understanding or a release from the pain and selfishness often associated with the Earthly world.
Once you peel back the layers of diverse individuals seeking spiritual answers you will find one common denominator in all of them. There is a place you want to go and a place you don't want to go to spend eternity.
That same bell tolls for those worshipers of Minneosotahighschoolhockeyism. That desired destination has been an auditorium, a Met Center, a Civic Center, a River Center, a Target Center, and an Energy Center.
Yes, it is in "One's hands", they just won't be mine, yet again.
Go in peace, serve your Lord. Amen.

Amen to that IS.
The Holy City of St Paul is where they want to be. Through out the ages, with a couple of construction related exceptions, this spiritual destinaton has preoccupied the hearts, minds and souls of so many.
It is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen.
Go, go to St Paul. Feed your mind and spirit.
Speaking of spirits, go to the Liffey for the holy waters to refresh and replenish between sessions on Thursday.
Shout out your support for your team and praise the L

It might be none of the above.
We just saw 3 #1 seeds get beat in the section finals. So, "the best of the rest" may be even less reliable.
I remember alot of upsests in the sections over the years but never so many in one year.
Edina may have the deepest team left standing. Hill Murray has a favorable first game draw.
Roseau has to have somehing to beat Moorhead but you can say the same thing about Burnsville and Woodbury who beat top teams.
I am praying for enlightenment:

That was good one, Bader.
Hey Packer, hate to bring up the rules, but here is a snippet of Mitch's "rules of engagement":
Keep it clean. Extremely divisive topics such as religion, politics, and sex should not be discussed here.
So, as you can see, please refrain from any more Catholic or other religious inferences or you would be in clear violation of the intent of this fine forum. It would be appreciated - thanks.

Hockey is religion. Hockey is politics. Hockey is....well, religion and politics any way.
Most folks know that.
There is a thread going on the main bored right now that rejoices the fact that 7 of the teams in AA are public schools.
Its really interesting. People would rather see Edina in the state tournament than a Catholic school because as goldy put it "it proves you cant buy your way into the state tournamet"
Its too funny.
Of course, goldy lives in the impoverished slums of Rochester where nobody makes a decent living.
Its great. Sorry AY, its too much fun.

Cheddarhead - I do read it, therefore, according to the rules, should not have to be subjected to any religious connotations. Thanks for stating the obvious.
Packerboy, I appreciate your understanding and following through with a well thought out, non-offensive post. By the way, what is contrary to the rules on the other board about the thread celebrating public school success?

Heck what a weekend.
I woke up Sunday morning with a terrible hangover and went out to get the paper. I found the sports page, which aint easy some times especially if you are 3 sheets to the wind from the night before.
What was I talkin about? Oh, the sports page. Yah, I opened it up and couldnt believe it. AHA lost, Moorhead lost and CDH lost.
Spuds and Cretin lost to teams they beat handily during the season twice.
I guess that doesnt happen every day.
I didnt get out to any games because there was so much snow on the top of my trailor house that the roof started to bend in and was creakin a little and I had to shovel it off.
Ill tell you this , they dont make these used mobile homes like they used to.
I guess they dont make # 1 seeds like they used to either.
I will still be watchin the tournament.
I will have to stock up on some jack and see what happens.
You boys do the same.

To the Liffey, the Liffey I go,
I will have my son in tow.
We will sit and sip a few,
maybe even guzzle some brew.
Watching hockey will be our chore,
but we will cetainly drink some more.
At the Liffey we will have a friendly chat,
With Slapshooter, Packer, Angus, and some other Catholic brat.
But we will have fun at the Liffey.
A Rams or Indian win maybe iffy,
but at the Liffey we will have some beer,
and for all the teams we will cheer.
I am no Packer at poetry,
but wait to read the soon to be released mureder mystery.
And Angus, Glory to God!
Amen.
