I never said they beat them...I said that Albert played good against them...and i think that if they played them right now Albert would have a good chance at winning

Sorry i misread it fixxer. But we can agree that we hope AL wins. I do not like Albert Lea at all and I was so glad to have swept them this season but I do hope they represent the big 9 and 1A well.

How does this Albert Lea team compare with the one that went to state in 05?

I played against them that year and they were pretty solid, besides goaltending.

I havent seen this team play, but I wish them luck on Wednesday!!

AL Vs Warroad

Post by Warroad97 »

I remember acouple years back when Warroad played Albert Lea at state and it was suppose to be a walk for us and as it turned out it was a win but a close win for us. I will give them credit that this should also be a close game but if Warroad puts it all together dont count them out in this. They have scoreing and solid D. Plus the Jake in goal gives them the ability to shock anyone on any night. Warroad over Albert Lea 4-2

this is the state tournament..AL won't roll over and die...the game won't be a blow out like some predictions. I would say a goal either way. AL will put up a fight a represent 1A well!!!

I think it's a pretty good draw for Albert Lea. I'm not sure the Tigers match up well with Duluth Marshall's size or St. Thomas' speed. Two years ago Albert Lea gave Warroad all they could handle, I think neither team is as good as they were two years ago, but at least in Albert Lea's case they have more depth and more balanced scoring than they did two years ago. Warroad played a much tougher schedule down the stretch though and Albert Lea will have to adjust very quickly to the speed of the game, if they can I like Albert Lea 4-3.

A couple players to watch for AL:
#10- As good of a postseason as anyone in the state. Had somewhere between 10 and 15 points.

#5- Captain. Team leader all year. Strong fast, can score goals.

#3- He is the dark horse. He plays on the second line, but he is a real spark plug to this team. Knows how to put the puck in the net.

#7- Gets a lot of ice time at D. Great hands.

Just a few. Their whole first line has been on fire.

STOP THE PRESS, STOP THE PRESS. The only games that Albert Lea and there #1 goalie Casanova have been tested and lost to are Rochester Century 3-2 / 5-3, Faribault 6-4 / 4-3, Rochester Lourdes 4-2, Richfield 3-1. The rest of there schedule they pretty much spanked the teams beating them by alot of goals. Alot of these teams are weaker or rebuilding this year. Is Albert Lea really this GOOD or are the other teams just way down this year? I guess we will find out at the state tournament. The question is, not if Albert Lea was going to state, but rather can they get there first win to advance into the winners bracket and compete at the state level?

Also, KUDOS to Albert Lea after the loss last year in the section tournament, they played summer hockey and hit the weight room. Will this be payoff time for them and get a win over Warroad? I think Warroad is down alittle this year and if they look past Albert Lea it might be the year. I don't have a crystal ball so I won't guess at the final score.

Hey Coach Roy, watch out for them " HOT GOALIES " up at the state tournament.

Warroad - 5

Albert Lea - 0

The Warriors shouldn't have too much trouble moving on to the Semis.

Warroad-3
AL-2

Playing at the X is for a State Title is different than rolling over a bunch of Section 1 teams. Warroad is the more tested team, that will be the difference.

zamboni, so the question during the year wasn't if AL would make it to state...it was if they would win the first game at state? Whatever you're smoking, I'm sure there are a lot of people in here that would like some. You bash them..then say it was a forgone conclusion that they would make the state tournament? A little more than a month ago it wasn't assured they would even get a top 3 seed in sections. They have been playing very well lately though and seem to have hit their stride at the perfect time of year. I've seen your previous posts zamboni, and it seems you have it out for AL for some reason (even though apparently you are from AL). What are you going to say if they beat Warroad? Probably that it was a fluke...then if they win state? Well they had an easy section. Got lucky a couple games. Caught a few bounces and look what happened!! People like you just like to rain on the parade of others.

JRDEEEZ. If they beat Warroad I'm going to say, HUGE UPSET and Albert Lea had to play extra hard to earn it. Just because I'm from the same town don't mean I have to support it. Look at there schedule and also Warroad will test there goalie. I don't think there #1 goalie has been tested to the max yet this year. In the state tournament 1A you have about 2-3 teams that come from very weak sections. In the 1AA you have 1 team that comes from a weak section and that would be Rochester Century this year. And Century is down this year compared to the last two years.

The problem with SOME of the Albert Lea coaches, players and fans is that they don't stay in the reality of things. They build themselfs up to high. THE HIGHER YOU GO THE HARDER YOU FALL.
