Steskal and White looked like men against boys today. Even Reid
left many more rebounds than I can remember in quite awhile. The
section final jinx continued for him. They looked very uncharacteristic
today.

Grand Rapids pretty much controlled the game, but Cloquet had 5-7 very scary flurries. I thought Reid still played great. It was an excellent hockey game to take in.

Once again Cloquet plays the bridesmaid. They just can't seem to win the big games. I've seen them in many section finals and have left seeing the other team hoisting the hardware. I can't say I am confident we'll see them in the section final anytime soon.
Good season none the less, its tough to hang your head with all the adversity that team faced this year. Good luck Grand Rapids, you earned the right to represent section 7AA.

Congratulations to the Thunderchickens!!! It is too bad that they upset the only two teams with a chance to represent Section 7 well however.

Missed the game live, was at my son's Bantam A Regional in Virginia, but just had the privelege to watch the game on tape. GR looked to be the hungrier team, and also the more poised club. The way they're playing right now should bring some hope to the northland for some more hardware. Didn't care much for Steve Jezerkski and his poor commentary though. He owes the Grand Rapids team and fans an apology for his obvious dislike. Almost all his comments were in negative fashion and he sounded disappointed when things went GR's way. And not to be so petty, but the next time he knows he's announcing a game, he should try to learn how to pronounce the player's names. Very annoying!

P.S. For you diehard GR fans out there, the Rapids Bantam A team is playing in the North Region Final with an opportunity to go to the state tourney. Posting a record so far of 39-11 with wins this season over Duluth East, Cloquet, Brainerd, Moorhead and Elk River. Hopefully a small glimpse into the next few years at the high school level.

Read Coach Esse's quote in the Duluth paper this morning on how his team was outplayed yesterday. I wonder if he would agree with you on whether Rapids can represent? Probably not. But then again, last year it was the same talk about whether GR could compete. We'll see what pans out this coming weekend.

As for the Thunderchickens comment, it exudes volumes about you.

It is interesting how both Esse and Randolph said their teams played their worst games of the year when Rapids beat them.

There is a reason for that. It is simply that Rapids is so good that the forced the opponent to play like that. Now they have to keep it going through state this year. YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Steve J. needs to go period. So negative, totally agree. Announcers should announce, not show their disappointment. ALso I believe he made
the statement that Cloquet beat East up in Cloquet without Tyler Johnson,
I somehow remember the game ended in a tie. He needs to get his act
together. Go Rapids.

Believe me, there are lots, I mean LOTS, worse announcers than Steve J. The Cloquet area had the misfortune of having the Brainerd radio feed sent back to Cloquet when the 2 teams met in Brainerd towards the end of the season. Now, that was brutal! Steve J usually does the UMD Bulldof broadcasts for WDIO TV in Duluth and IMO does a heck of a job....especially compared to the radio broadcast's of Bruce "that was the worst reffing job I have ever seen" Ciskie. If Steve missed a few names, so be it, but he is knowledgable, insightful, and usually calls it pretty neutral. But keep in mind, he has Cloquet ties.

GR3343, I was given a heads-up by a friend about how biased Steve was coming across during the broadcast. One can't forgive him for this because of his Cloquet roots. I've only had the chance to edit out the commercials prior to burning to DVD so I haven't yet watched the broadcast. I'll probably comment more after seeing it.

My friend's quote was "he (Jezierski) needs to go". [edit--which seems to match Forecheck's take Image]

Exciting game to watch. Grand Rapids with lots of pressure. Cloquet would pop out quick with a hard flurry. I thought Jensen was the difference. He came up huge on some great chances created by Johnson and Company. He would go some fairly long stretches without much action, then would have to face 2 or 3 shots from close in. He was the MVP in my opinion. If he has a couple more games like that in him, they will be hard to beat.

It is great your posting Bantam stuff on a High School forum  . Rapids outplayed Cloquet for most of the game and it was fun to watch two northern teams duke it out. Good luck GR and represent 7AA well-which you will. P.S. I don't think Rapids first goal should have counted.

I saw the replay on TV and a Grand Rapids player lowered his head and smashed into Ellingson, therefore preventing him from beign able to play the puck.

Watch closely. #21 in orange is swinging at the puck to try to bat in the rebound. That is why his head was down. Good play, good goal.
