Are you sure it wasn't 22 or 17? I know they came flying up and I'm 99.9% sure that the NU coach grabbed 27 right away because he was right next to him because he tried to get into the fight.

game on friday

Post by hockeyfan101 »

I dont understand why most people think that albert lea will win by 5 or six goals. the two teams played earlier in the year and albert lea won 4-2 with an empty net in albert lea. albert lea may be playing tough right now but i think that you can say the same for new ulm. They ended the season with two tough games which i think is helping them through the playoffs. dont everlook new ulm in this game. playoff hockey comes down to a hot goalie and that is what new ulm has right now. albert lea goalie has not really been tested yet in the playoffs.
as for the game on friday with the whether they have it set for sat. if they need it at the same time same place if it gets snowed out for fri.

Besides the point, AL they played great...weather they had competion or not.. they still would have beat any other team. No competion never gets in the way of AL playing.

Anyways, i am intrerested in hearing everyone predictions for the finals.

well marshall couldnt do anything when AL controlled the puck the whole game so you made it sound like AL had the easiest team in the tournament its not like they (Marshall) were blowin out by west and NU throughout the season... i think if AL played like that vs the other teams it could be just like that... especially when AL scores 3 goals in 3 min, first goal first shift, i mean hard to come back from that...

you have to make the easy and the hard saves to be a hot goalie and casanova has made the easy ones and a few hard ones he was tested at the end of the season as well and came through.... the NU-AL game at the beginning of the year could have been bad for NU, AL was dominating pretty bad but AL was also in there penalty addiction which i think they recovered from now so who knows

i definitly agree with you. even though they were beating marshall by that much they never let up and still played hard. as to beating any other team we wont know till they play new ulm. they are as well a very solid team, but so is new ulm.

Marshall a month ago went to OT with Albert Lea and actually had a 3-1 lead on AL. You never know what can happen.
After seeing both teams play Albert Lea will win by 3 or 4. Albert Lea looks too good right now and if they keep playing like they have been could surprise people up at state.

This is my last post on the whole NU/West debacle. Brad Clyne is nothing but a cheap little hack and loudmouth. I hope Walton kicks his a--
Good night and good luck to Albert Lea. Coach Nystrom is the best

chuckapuck07 wrote:this is the first chance i've gotten to go on here since thursday. first off im going to say that i am very embarrased to have stuck up for marshall so much the past week, as they lost by 6. i think its been a while that second round of sections has had run time third period. they had 12 seniors who were amazing individually but for some reason cant come together as a team. it was clear that most didnt have the heart to win.

as for the new ulm game, it shouldnt be that hard to just shut up and shake hands through the line. their are a couple players from NU that i've heard say things that are innapropriate and really shouldnt be said. but then again, its hockey, and that comes from every team. also, you should be able to control yourself and not start something and hit the guy. but i also wasnt in the situation.

everyone thinks albert lea played well monday, but then again they didnt really have a lot of competition against marshall. new ulm is a strong team and i think they'll take the section 1a title friday. i hope i dont get disappointed again.
I'm sure the Marshall players are heartbroken to have let you down.
On their list of things they feel bad about, I'm sure your feelings are right up there.
Those 12 seniors had a great run. Marshall has been in the section semis the past 4 years. Not many teams can say that. They were key ingredients in the run to the finals last year. They had a reputation for playing hard long before you started "sticking up for them".
No one feels worse about their effort Monday night than they do. Let it go. Expectations to get back to where they were turned out to be too much for them the past month. Their games with AL/Mankato/and NU over the years have almost always been 1-goal games one way or the other. They would love to have the chance to redeem themselves, but they won't get it. They chose a bad time to play poorly, but that doesn't take away some great memories and some great accomplishments.
They should have been the ones acting like idiots after the game Monday night, but once again, they took the high road and left with their heads up, which is more than I can say for some others.
They've had some real battles with AL and NU over the years and they respect both teams. AL was ready, even if Marshall had brought their "A" game. If they (AL) play that way in the final, NU is in for a very long night as well. Good luck to both teams, and Marshall will be pulling for the winner to represent Section 1A at state.

Section 1A final

Post by goaler »

I think this will be a very, very hard fought game. I have seen AL play several times this year, and I've seen NU. AL will not win by six, like they did over Marshall. But they will win. (Sorry New Ulm fans) Having said that, I said that NU could beat West but that they probably wouldn't. Wrong. I thought I was going to be right when West went up 2-1 in the second, but I didn't account for the grit of this NU team which kept hustling and made the big plays in the third period.

NU is much better now than they were when they almost tied AL in AL. In that first game, Buegler kept NU in the game in the first, but the last two periods were even and maybe in NU's favor. It's going to be a tough game. I respect both teams. I've seen some of these AL players for years. They are good and experienced, all around. New Ulm is young on defense, but darn good, and getting better. They haven't hit their peak yet. They are great in goal.

AL will win by one goal, 4-3. But I wouldn't put any money on it.

(By the way, there was a scuffle after Walton scored in the empty net when an NU player took a swipe at Walton as he was celebrating by the AL bench. I can't say for sure who took the swipe, but somebody probably remembers. I hope NU doesn't let that chippy side of its play come to the forefront in this game. Play hard boys, and take what happens like men.)

Local TV caught some of the scrap after the game.
If that doesn't get you there, go to keyc.tv.com and search for NU/West hockey.

Wow... pretty goal... that boy was flying!

Too bad there was a hoohaa at the end of the game... it looks like the coaches did a great job of getting their players out, and some players did a nice job of holding their teammates back... good leadership.

Us here in Albert Lea have the best coaching in the Big Game Saturday, March 3rd, 2007 between the New Ulm Eagles and our Albert Lea Tigers. Our coaches in Roy and David Nystrom, Dan Colstrup, Fred Nelson, and Marty Anderson will come up with a great gameplan. The players will go out and execute as always and we will blow out the Eagles in a hopefull shutout but if not thaat it will be 6 to 1 Tigers. Look for Nova in the net to step up and have a great game along with the rest of the beloved Tigers.

That is just coming from the "Fan Of The Year" chosen by the players!!!!
I guarantee 100% I'll be up at Gustavus on Saturday Night to watch the drama/game unfold and there will be no and's, if's, or's, or but's. I am not going to let the weather or anything/anyone stand in my way from being there. I will also be up at State Wednesday that is after we win Saturday night.
