I can not believe what I just read. It looks like the only bitter one on this thread is brookyone. I would say "cool down"-you are making a great group of players and parents look really bad (Stillwater) I too hope you are a kid. One of the most important lessons to be learned from sports is how to win with class.

Hockeywild1 stated it perfectly that Stillwater has the 6th toughest schedule in the state. Centennial never played Eden Prairie, Edina, Holy Angels, Roseville, Cretin, or any of the top rated teams all season. That is a coaching decision and Stillwater knows what is needed to play at the top level of hockey. Please do not get me wrong. The players for Centennial are not to blame here. They went out, worked hard and did what they were taught all season. However, it was clear that Stillwater was used to playing at a higher level.

Lastly, both Stillwater and Centennial have a great group of players who for many years have played off season hockey together. There have been many friendships made between the Centennial players and the Stillwater players. How often do you hear that between two high caliber, highly rated teams? Kudos to both teams! They have learned at a young age that relationships are more important than a game!

Good luck at the State Tournament. This Cougar will be cheering for the Ponies!

Your right pondhock07 about the 2 transfers on Stillwaters roster. I think your statement said Stillwater had 5 not 2. So where do you get the other 3 from or are you just embelishing your numbers to make your point? Are you saying Centennial has no transfers or do you prefer not to discuss theirs? Personally I dont care if they do or don't. Its perfectly within HS league rules to have them so I dont get your point there. And as far as toughness of schedule, I agree Centennial played a fairly tough one as well. My point was to give Stillwater some credit here. But I guess you cleared that up by stating you just dont like Stillwater.

PondHock07 wrote:If it wasn't for Stillwater's goalie there's no way they would be going to state. The score is definetly not a reflection of the game. They played a good 48 seconds of a 51 minute game.
No matter how you look at it Stillwater has had a better team on and off the ice for several years. They lost to Centennial 2 years ago in sections Stillwater out played the cougars the entire game (3rd period 19 shots on goal Centennial 1 and came up short on goals and lost. To show their sporsmanship the Ponies and their fans supported Centennial in the final game against NSP.
I don't recall any Stillwater fans making excuses why or remarks about a team that did not deserve to win.
Now Stillwater is in the State Tournament the 2nd year in a row. That sounds to me like a really good TEAM!!! (not 48 seconds of hockey and a really good goalie who has not scored a goal all year)

Good Luck to Stillwater at State! Your team earned the right to be there!!

Why the teams play the game you never know how it is going to turn out until the final buzzer!

One team can say "we out played and out shot the other team"-the other team can say just the opposite. It's all a matter of opinion. I am sure Centennial, Eden Prairie, Edina, Holy Angels, Wayzata and Cloquet all would agree-it's all in who shows up on one particular night.

It was a great game-we all would agree upon that! Let's move on from here-we look forward to another Section Final game next year!

Good luck and have fun!

Here, Here!!! I thought is was a very good game, with no "Pain" at all. North Metro looked good, but the speed of Stillwater over came them tonight.

CONGRATS to Stillwater! Congrats to North Metro for a great season also!

No one forces you to watch. The game has come a long way since it started.

I saw Stillwater play Bemidji and I was very impressed. Stillwater had a great power play and they moved the puck very well the entire game. Their goalie also played very well. I then watched the Ponies beat Roseville on TV and I saw the same thing and also noticed they were a VERY good skating team. It was no surprise to me at all that they beat North Metro in the final. Great jobg Ponies.

boblee, I hate to be a stickler, but here is your prediction from the other thread:

"What are the predictions. I say North Metro completes the Cinderella Story, 3-2."

Just because I predicted North Metro would win doesn't mean I am at all surprised that Stillwater won. I hoped NM would win, but I am by no means surprised Stillwater did.
