1 goal game, possibly 2 if there's an empty-netter. Unless Tyler Johnson is 100% healthy, I've got GR taking it. Either way section 7 will have a good representitive at the X. Let's just pray that the "random" seeding of the lower 4 teams doesn't result in an 8AA v. 7AA matchup in the quarters.

Really hope Cloquet plays well and represents section 7 well in the show. The T-chickens would go 2 and out

cec is a great team tyler johnon though will probably not be a factor unless cec makes a tricky dicky line change play. If leraque can conserve the energy of the top line (white) cec is in trouble. I hope some miracle happens were tyler is at his "A" game. because that would make for a tighter game. my prediction is 7-2 Rapids, given that we would hit the flipping net once in a while. go indians please GO INDIANS!

7 goals past Reid? Not even if he were blind folded.

I've seen both teams play this year, and I think Cloquet was much better.

One thing you've got to factor in is obviously goaltending. With Ellingson, you know you're getting a solid game, Jensen, well inconsistency is the story of his year, for sake of a good game, I hope he doesn't have an off night.

I'd like to see Reid and TJ make it to state. They earned the #1 seed, I'd like to see them earn the trip to the X.

Cloquet - 4

Grand Rapids - 3

2 OT

TJ deserves to go to the show and will do so in dramatic fashion with the game winner in 2 OT.

4-2
5,233. It hasn't sold out the past few seasons but this one just might considering the rivalry and how good those teams are.

Reid Ellingson is a great goalie...but Rapids has a few things going for them.

1) Reid Ellingson is 0-2 in section finals.

2) Reidar Jensen is 4-0 vs. Reid Ellingson.

3) Grand Rapids is 4-1 against Cloquet in the last 5 meetings.

I dont see how any of these stats prove anything throw them out the window. Its a different day and game, with different setting a trip to state.

Boys, you can count on a 7AA verse 8AA matchup in the quarters. It is already a done deal. :x :x

That sucks for section 7. Not that they dont have tons of talent but that they get matched up with one of the top schools in the country ... ( i mean minnesota ) ;)

ried elingson is an excelent goal tender. and if they put one in first it will be tight all the way through. If GR tallies first it might just be a rout. I'll be the first one there and wearing my #18 rapids jersey. I'll be in the first row.
GR has good experienc against cec. I see more hope than confidence on the cec side. I would be talking alot different if Tj was 100%.
beating duluth east in the playoffs is huge for GR, I cant even remember the last time we beat them in the sections. full steam ahead for GR. unless they celebrate too much like I have in the past few days. I'm still giddier than a cat eatn' pancakes. not changing my mind on the score though. 7-2

Sections 7 & 8 at state...
seeding

Moorhead or Roseau will get a top four seed...
CEC should too...
If GR wins they may not depending on who else is there...

5 - AHA will but if Burnsville no
2 - Cretin - Woodbury, possibly and no
6 - Edina - Eden Prairies yes, and possibly
1AA - no, no, no, no
3 - Hill or roseville, yes WBL no, Centennial maybe
4 - Blaine maybe, no, no, no

so Moorhead/Roseau will have one spot
AHA a second
Roseville/HM a third
Edina a 4th

Grand Rapids will be in the draw...
cna't be fixed (I would hope) because it will be live.
CEC depends on who is there but they have a shot at 1 - 4

Just my opinion.

This is my younger bro talking here. This is MY first post since getting back to Anchorage an hour ago.

Wow, that was the best weekend of my life! We finally beat East in the playoffs! Great goal and game by White, but what a pass by Morse. Great game too by Rendle and the whole Haloween Machine. The last minute of the 3rd nearly brought my 22 year old heart to its end. I can't believe I can't make it to the finals cuz of work, this sucks. Coming for state if they win though. Glad to see the whole Rapids crowd got behind me and GR19.

Rapids! Rapids!

boblee, you said Jensen is 4-0 against Ellingson. Didn't he play in their first meeting this year when Rapids lost?

I hope Cloquet wins.
Cloquet has only won 4 section titles with alot of section final losses.
(not sure the exact number of losses)

I think Cloquet mathes up better with east.

Even rapids fans would like to see reid play in state tourney lol.

I am picking cloquet 3-2 but I thinks rapids will win 3-1 I hope not.
Cloquet as a tough time getting goals on jensen.

I bleed purple and white.

I might shed a few tears if the jacks lose again this year.

7AA Final

Post by northwoods oldtimer »

This will be a great game as both clubs know how to defend well against the other. It will take some puck luck either way to get the win. Here's hoping G-ROCK gets one more past Reid Ellingson. Whoever is predicting a 7-2 win is nuts as there is no way Esse's team will give that many up. You will have to earn it.
