Michelle Anez scored a hat trick as second-ranked Alexandria blanked Fergus Falls 6-0 Friday night in the Section 6A championship match.
Anez opened the scoring at the 13:45 mark on assists by Kathryn DelZoppo and Nikki Ecklund.
She started Alexandria’s second period five-goal marathon with assists from DelZoppo and Ecklund at the 1:58 mark.
Megan Trenne notched Alexandria’s third goal at the 3:50 mark with assists from Abby Nelson and Brianna Lind.
Abby Williams scored her 49th goal of the season and DelZoppo picked up an assist at 6:19.
Anez finished her hat trick with an unassisted power play goal at 10:15.
In the third period, DelZoppo gave the Cardinals an insurance goal at 8:27.
The Cardinals will take a 25-2 record into the Class A state tournament and face Section 7A winner Hibbing in a 1 p.m. contest Wednesday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
