tuesday's game was pretty good for the packers, but i think it could have been better. i give the game a B, just because they had a lot of trouble in the 2nd period and couldn't finish on several excellent opportunities. however, they fore-checked well and their back-checking was excellent; shutting down AL's key players was an important factor in the win.

about tomorrow:

if austin plays like i know they can, they'll be section champs. let's go pack

p.s. no more giving up three-goal leads, eh? also, nice job to AL. good clean game. you've always been a great opponent.

Falcon 89 just wondering if you might show up to the game tomorrow night.
AUstin has been preparing for this game since the end of october. They want it so much no question about it. Going to be a great game to watch we'll just have to see who shows up to play.

Good luck to the Austin Pack!!! I know you won't underestimate MW...

The Austin/AL game was a just fair game for BOTH teams. All of AL's shots were right at the goalie. No luck either.

But no complaints about the refs (that's the first thing I was asked when I was standing near a FB parent "how are the refs?" LOL).

I wouldn't be so quick to discount Faribo's chances next season. I have a feeling the line of Kastner, Bjoraker and Foley will be awfully tough to defend. But you're right, AL did get 3 out of 4 from Faribo this year

i think it will be between AL, MW and Faribault next year-
Austin is losing too many... Jenkins won't have anybody behind her though Ellingson could be a key player but the lack of goaltending and other scoring powers will hurt them

this is their year can they pull it off? :-s

How about this little nugget...
Of the 5 goals West scored against Faribo, 4 of them were scored by 8th graders. That kind of production out of 8th graders makes them either VERY dangerous or very inconsistent. Still got to give the edge to Austin, but wouldn't be at all surprised if West won. Should be a good game.

When the MSHSL did all their Section realignments last Spring, I remember thinking 2 things.
1. Good, no more New Prague, that should open it up a bit.
2. Man, Section 3 is terrible. How can New Ulm NOT get to State?

Glad to see the MSHSL has a sense of humor. Section 1 vs. Section 2 at the State Tourney. Guess who is in Section 2? Yep, New Prague. ](*,)
The more things change, the more they stay the same...

It will be a tough game but I think Austin can pull through and win. They'll have to play like they did against mayo and if they play that way they for sure can win

Faribo Does lose alot though, 2 starting D and the starting goalie, One first liner and 2 other forwards will experience hurt them next year?

Defense and the goalie don't matter, though, do they...

AL should have solid goaltending next year and will be OK on defense.

Tell the AL forwards to score a few more goals, and AL could have a year like Austin had this year.

It will hurt to lose those 2 D the most. Who was the starting goalie for Faribo, Myos or Dupay? I thought it was Dupay???

myos was the starting goalie. Hopefully bjroker can step it up and fill in the shoes and play with foley and kastner the way that miler did

Since we are all going there, I will join in. Next year's predictions.

1. AL , they have always wanted the bullseye lets give it to them.

2. Faribault, that first line will be tough to defend.

3. MW will have lots of talented returners.

The above three will be close.

4. Austin, the complete wildcard. I honestly believe Jenkins is the best player in the section and big 9. I have watched her play in the summer and about everywhere, succeeds at all levels. However: that said, there will be very little support for her, So TRANSFER TAYLOR TO FARIBAULT.  If Austin were somehow to resolve their goalie situation all bets are off.

No sorry, I will have to read about it on the always truthful forum. Is 12 injured?

No actually, I think I will cruise up to the Dance team state tournament, at the excell center, great facility for dance, and watch Faribault kick Austin's butt.

NOT!!!    No way would I watch that kiss and kick.

Those two 8th graders are on arguably the top line in the section...They've been scoring goals like crazy all year..

West is going to state...hopefully!

Austin 6 West 2
Sorry, but looks like next year for West, maybe.
So AL played Austin better...go figure.
But---the REAL final Section order based on performance in section games:

1-Austin
2-AL
3-West
4-FB

my condolences to Buzzard89

I have to tell you some of the Faribault players came to the game and cheered Austin on tonight they even made signes, THAT SHOWED CLASS -- KUDOS. I believe it was some of the players that play summer hockey with the Austin girls. Once angain GREAT goaltending for the PACK..   GOOD LUCK AT STATE

Congratulations to the Austin Packers. You survived the bullseye on your chest all year. Goodluck at the state tournament and represent 1A well. You destroyed all my predictions. We, in Falcon country, are behind you.

Congratulations to the coaches, on selecting the section seeds, even though, you did not rely at all of our expert advice. There was not a single upset in the entire section tournament. It played out with 1 seed beating 2 seed.

Once again, Congratulations and Good Luck Packers.

First of all congratulations to 1A section fans for having the most lively and dedicated forum thread.

Second congratulations to Mankato West for being a great opponent and fighting to the end.

Third, a special thanks to the Faribault girls, who showed up to support us, and take on a very, very large,in your face, MW student body and band. You gals ROCK.

Finally congratulations to the Austin packers. You won as team. You played like a pack of wolves, knowing the strength is in the pack. We, as parents, are very proud in your accomplishmnets on and off the ice.
It is nice, not to ever worry about eligibilty issues, due to your character.
You have won many battles on and off the ice, many don't know that you even beat cancer as a team. Savor the moments, and enjoy the next week together. You will treasure these the rest of you lives. Thanks for the memories.

Live life, love life, and laugh at yourself...............and if you can't laugh at yourself, laugh at your dad. ( Taylor you should really be laughing now)

WAY TO GO PACK!!! jetjock is right, we've persevered through a lot together. and we're better for it. last night was a night i'll never forget. i'm especially proud of you for ignoring those MW fans throughout the game, and even quieting them down with those 3 goals in the second. we got the job done, and we made our dream come true. now let's get some respect for southern MN hockey at STATE!

sorry MW, better luck next year. You played a great game. the packers know what it feels like to watch another team celebrate the section championship (here's a hint: it doesn't feel good), and i'm sorry you had to feel like that.

A big thank you to everyone on this forum. you made my senior year interesting, certainly. frustrating at times, but a lot of fun. and it shows class that you guys can back us up even after your seasons were ended. so thanks.

peace.
