AHA vs Farmington (1/23)

Post by natedog228 »

While i just found this forum recently, i cannot believe no one has posted this, so i will take the pleasure of doing so:

With the game tied 2-2 with less than two minutes to play, HOly Angels' leading scorer went to the penalty box. Seven seconds later another player joined her giving the Tigers not only a 5-3 for the rest of regulation, but also for the first bit of overtime if needed. Regulation ended, AHA players skated to the bench to meet with their coaches before overtime started. As overtime was about to begin, Farmington Coach Keith Revels and his players noticed the obvoius: the Holy Angels star was no longer in the box, mysteriously been replaced by a different teammate. Revels brought it to the officials attention and although AHA received no penalty, the correct player did make it to the box. In the end justice prevailed with an 8th graders goal at 5:32 of overtime.

I would like to ehar people's thoughts on thsi as it was an obvious attempt to bend the rules and ethics of high school athletics. The Farmington sports writer said it well:
"We observers may never know what eventually becomes of this whole mess, bt a couple of observations seem in order. First of all, the act of trying to gain a competitive advantage by circumventing the rules and ethcis of the game is deplorable and goes against everything that high school athletics are about. Unless there is conclusive evidence the acvtion was innocent and not an attempt to cheat, some sort of discipline should be meted out to the transgressors"

Again, what are others thoughts on this? I have been around the rink ever since i was born, and never have i saw something like this take place.... at any level.

This was already discussed at some length in another thread - try doing a search and you should find it.
