D16 Districts

Post by D16Dad »

Anyone know what a 7 team district bracket would look like? For PWA and BA D16 has 7 teams; 3 go to regions. It would be nice if D16 had a website (hint) to put this information on. Elliott, maybe the D16 tournament coordinator could post it on the Bemidji Youth Hockey website? Most D16 associations reference the Bemidji site for their D16 standings...

District Tourney

Post by slow feet no hands guy »

Is TRF taking the Host spot in Regions (PWA) as D16 3rd place?

Does D16 run single or double elimination?

Originally District 15 had 6 PWA teams and had planned on Double Elim, but a 7th A team was added and now I'm not sure they know what they are going to do.

What does the IR do?

D16 bantam A's will have a 7 team single elimination tournament, starting at 8 or so on Saturday February 17th. The BA are in Thief River Falls.

Bantam B will be in Bemidji wiht 8 team single elimination.

Both will have consolatin bracket. 3 teams advance to regions.

Pee Wee A will be in East Grand Forks with 6 teams sinlge elim and cons bracket with 2 advancing to regions with TRF as #3 hosting.

Pee Wee B will be 9 teams single elim w/ cons and a play-in game. OR a 6 team tourney with 3 teams in B2. We advance 2 to B1 region in Bemidji with Bemidji taking #3 as host. Two teams move to pee-wee B2.
Tourney will be in Baudette.

12Ua will be in Crookston with single elim and 4 teams moving to regions in Bemidji. Bemidji will host but will play in districts.

14UA (including Moorhead and Brainerd will be in Roseau. 5 teams advance to regions in Proctor.

All are on February 17 (pee wee b may start on February 16).

10U, Squirt A & B districts are March 3 & 4 (possibly start on the 2nd).
10U in Warroad
SA in Roseau
SB in East Grand Forks.

District meeting to finalize everything will be in Red Lake Falls on Feb 12 Monday at teh Legion - starting at 6; meals available there at 5pm.

Hope this helps.

And we are looking for a volunteer to put up a web page.

I believe the IR does double elim and holds it Feb 23, 24, 25.

Not sure what Dave Stigen has planned for D15.

So for a 7 team single elimination it would look something like...
Quarter-Finals
g1. 6 vs 7
g2. 2 vs 5
g3. 3 vs 4

Semi-Finals
g4. 1 vs Wg1.
g5. Wg2. vs Wg3.

Finals
g6. Wg4. vs Wg5.
#1 seed - Wg6. (Win,Win,Win)
#2 seed - Lg6. (Win,Win,Loss)
Third seed?????
g7. Lg4. vs Lg5.
#3 seed - Wg7. (Win,Loss,Win)

my guess by the time Februaty 12th roles around it would look like...

my prediction:
Crookston #2
Roseau #1
Bemidji #3
Warroad #5
East Grand Forks #4
LOW #7
Thief River Falls #6

Games set up like this:
Game #1 - #1 vs #8 (bye)
Game #2 - #4 vs #5
Game #3 - #2 vs #7
Game #4 - #3 vs #6

my predictions
Game #1 - #1 vs #8 (bye) = Roseau
Game #2 - #4 vs #5 EGF and Warroad = EGF winner
Game #3 - #2 vs #7 Crookston and LOW = LOW winner
Game #4 - #3 vs #6 Bemidji and TRF = Bemidji winner

semi
Roseau vs EGF = Roseau
LOW vs Bemidji = Bemidji

3rd EGF
2nd Bemidji
1st Roseau

But could be 3 different teams as they all have played close all year.

Peewee A's belongs to Roseau or Bemidji.

Are there are rules regarding refs during district tournament?

We will use 3 man system (ref and 2 linesman) for bantams.

They must be appropriate level and adults (for refs), no one of the same age level for linesman either. HS kids may be used for pee-wee lines.

If there ahs been a problem during the year with a particular ref, they may be excluded. The District Director can appoint which refs will do games (tehy may come from anywhere).
And teh DD and staff will be at some district play-offs os if there is a problem someone may be on-sight to rectify.
