skate contouring

Is it common practice to contour new skates. If so, who do you recommend doing this.

Dave's Sports on Moore Lake Road, Hat Trick Hockey Richfield and Westwood Sports in Bloomington.

It depends on the skate and how you skate.

I am in no ways an expert. But, there is a difference between contouring and profiling. Profiling uses a template to improve the center of gravity and surface contact. I believe that contouring has more to do with rockering the blade to fit the position that you play, forward or defense.

I believe I picked the wrong word, it's not rockering but controlling the radius of the blade.

Re pineline:

If you from the Osseo - Maple Grove area they have a great new place to get skate's sharpened and profiled. They can profile the skates usually whithin the hour if there not too busy. Alot of the other places you have to leave the skates for at least a couple of days which is hard to do during the season.

Install a set of T-Blades they are the answer. Consistant everytime. Buy 6 sets for the season and be done. Use 2 sets for games and the other 4 for practice.

Any idea what they charge to profile and sharpen? I've heard a lot of good things about Gold Medal Sports, but it's kinda of a long drive!

You also need to know the height of the person who's skates are being profiled.
