Don't count on that—its a suckers bet!Pioneerprideguy wrote:I'm hoping the events of this week will lay to rest the Tartan fans. RIP Titans!
AP could have sworn Furne also was the one who last tipped that goal which was awarded to Zepeda (wouldn't be the first time Furne was robbed at the scoring table this year).

Interesting observastion. All game, Tartan players stood up on the bench and intensely watched the action, while the Hill players quietly sat (and a few even yawned). Yep, pretty intense rivaly there. Perhaps the Titans wanted to see how a quality team shares the puck. A workman like effort by the Pioneers and it was nice to see Furne get a couple goals in his old house. Can hardly wait for the next Tartan Poll.

????
i dont know about that pioneer guy, but i did see the refs favoring HILL the WHOLE GAME! even tho they still wouldve beat the almighty titans
, the refs were making TERRIBLE calls on them.some that i can remember, #14 on tartan going down on a breakaway then gets hooked no call, looses a quality scoring chance. another i saw, was when #9 stepped up and hit Nick Widing, they give him a penalty for roughing? when clearly the puck was in the kids feet, and he had his head down. That was Probably the cleanest hit id ever seen. But it was funny to see how the pioneers barely played furnes line, yet he somehow gets 3 points!

HM - Tartan
I was at the Hill-Murray - Tartan game at 3pm yesterday at Tartan Arena. What game were you at?
Ryan Furne wore number #26 and skated on the first line with Tyler Zepeda and Nick Larson, as well as the power play. They were the ones buzzing shots at Cary Wood all afternoon. He scored a goal and an assist and likely will get a second goal credited for tipping in Zepeda's goal. He's got 13 goals and 30 points in 18 games. By all accounts he is a hard worker and a nice kid. Next year, after Nick Larson graduates, he will be the offensive star of a group of very good forwards - along with Zepeda, Dan Cecka & Isaac Kohls.
There was nothing wrong with the officiating. They called 7 penalties on Tartan and 5 on HM. Not exactly lopsided. They called some stuff and let some go like they always do. The game was played mostly in the Tartan end. Shots were 40-15. I thought Tartan played hard until the end. Cary Wood made a lot of tough stops.
As for the "Cherry Pickers" having their own conference and state tournament - it ain't gonna happen. That was decided 33 years ago by the MSHSL. Also here's some history for you. South St. Paul led the charge about 7-8 years ago to get Hastings, Woodbury and Park thrown out of the St. Paul Suburban Conference. All are public schools. They eventually got their wish. However they also got St. Thomas Academy and Hill-Murray. It seems as though the bad guys are not always the private schools, but those that win too much.
I think the "Cherry Pickers" are the parents who are willing to pay the tuition for better education and better athletics for their kids, not the other way around.

I BET CAREY WOOD AND THE BOYS BEAT HILL NEXT YEAR. Wood, who will be back for his 7th and final season at Tartan looks to be dominate. Hill has no chance.goalieboy1 wrote:i dont know about that pioneer guy, but i did see the refs favoring HILL the WHOLE GAME! even tho they still wouldve beat the almighty titans, the refs were making TERRIBLE calls on them.some that i can remember, #14 on tartan going down on a breakaway then gets hooked no call, looses a quality scoring chance. another i saw, was when #9 stepped up and hit Nick Widing, they give him a penalty for roughing? when clearly the puck was in the kids feet, and he had his head down. This has been an interesting thread to follow, with some very humorous posts, some intentionally funny, some not. Teh bottom lineseems to be this: Tartan has a very good goalie in Wood, but no much else. This is why Wood faced 75 shots against a Johnson team that is average at best. Hill has a vey good team, not a great team. They're probably a legit top ten team, but I don;t see them as a threat to win the state title. Righ now, I'd say there a 2 seed in 3AA behind Roseville.

Hill will try to make it to state.. and if they do.. choak miserabley like last year.. and strive for setting new records for most goals with no saves...Sparlimb wrote:I BET CAREY WOOD AND THE BOYS BEAT HILL NEXT YEAR. Roseville > Hill!!!
Yes, Singerhouse passed to Larson, and Furne tipped it in... the Boxscore Should read: Furne (Larson, Singerhouse) which would give both Furne and Singerhouse 3 points for the game.Ankles Pierre, Jr. wrote:Don't count on that—its a suckers bet!Pioneerprideguy wrote:I'm hoping the events of this week will lay to rest the Tartan fans.
