Maybe you should get a clue zippy...

It goes back to years of North South battling --- I think its funny!!

It will always be an ongoing debate in St. Cloud over North and South and who's better expecially while donovan is dictating tech camp.

Why doesn't St. Cloud just split into North and South, then? I've seen that idea posted in other places. Of course, the SCC kids would then be split all through the youth level. What say you? Also, this Donovan woman draws a lot of ire. Why doesn't she get voted out if she's so bad?

Zippy, you answered your first question with your second question, and in regard to your 3rd question, yes, she's on very thin ice and her position is up for election at the end of this hockey season. And, don't worry, we're not snobs but rather just having some fun with a little humor.

Lot's of inside humor.. the kids have played together for many years and actually have quite a bit of respect for each other. Unless you're in the middle of the St. Cloud hockey world, it would be a waste of breath to tell everyone about the "issues". A lot of the bad feelings between Tech and CHS come right from the SCYHA management.. But like I said, unless you're here and dealing with it, you wouldn't understand.

OH, and remember that CHS has made the show three times since 1990, and Tech has gone... let me think... oh yeah. NEVER!!! (inside.. don't comment unless you live within the Tech guard towers...)

Thanks for clue in. Our association has many of the same problems, but many blame the H.S. coach and association parents fight over those who like him vs. those who don't. When you live in a one high school town, the H.S. coaches control the program, and not everyone likes that either; so it doesn't seem like there is ever peace among men (and women).

Like your little reference to the "show." Getting to the tourney is a big deal but so is developing players. I understand two Tech kids are skating D1 now and several have in the past 10 years. Any from SCC?

Just think if all the Catholic boys from the Tech, Sartell, Apollo, and SR went to SCC. What kind of a team that would be. DM x2. SEC 8AA

zippitydoda or bender bob or whatever you call yourself...

First, I don't take stabs at Tech. I take stabs at Chad Hommerding.

Second, yes, I am a Cathedral fan. Do you want a cookie for observing that?

Third...overall, the amount of players gone D1 from Tech and SCC are very close.

Sending them D1, the same...yadayadayada...they've actually been to the state tourney since 1954....yadayadayada....Apollo has sent more people D1 than Tech as well....yadayadayada...

Not sensitive, but I speak the truth to anyone that wants to hear it. I'll admit I don't like Chad Hommerding or his coaching philosophies. This is a result of him making his kids run stairs after the GCC loss to SCC. That was uncalled for. He's also made a mockery of SCYHA by using Colleen Donovan as a puppet.

Gotta agree with GB

Hommrding has had the cream o the crop and hasn't beat anyone. In fact they lost two games I hear. I don't know much about the youth program but people say he runs that through this Donovan lady. I don't live in Cloud so its hard for me to judge. I think CHS is doing what they can as a private but if any of those guys want to get better they should split. GB, whats the history with the youth, have they always been together? Why don't they do the same as the Rochester schools? It makes sense that way.
Is the youth program any good there? or good enough to support three high schools. Because Apollo struggles and Tech hasn't anything since the days of playing on Lake George (thats how old I am, suprised i even remeber that stuff). CHS is the only real contender but they need to get a few more games with the Elite A teams to really make a statement. Then they would probaly draw the good players from the two other schools, i would think.

Don't know the history of St. Cloud, except that it doesn't seem any of the three schools have won anything, but like to bicker among themselves.

Even though we are guilty of infighting up here, we have been to and won some state tourneys. Let me clue you in about something.....people bitch about coaches who have won state tourneys; so I don't know much about your program, but it's amusing that you attribute so much to any one high school coach. Winning a state tourney has a lot to do with having good players who play well as a team (regardless of who the coach is), some luck on the injury variable, some good goaltending and some fortunate bounces. I may agree with you on running stairs after the game.

If our coach thought we didn't give our full effort, he'd wait until the next day.................then bag skate us till we lost our lunch. The Tech guy at least could have waited a day.

At about the turn of the century SCYHA went from having a North/South split to having two A teams to having one A team and back and forth regularly. They have an OK youth system. They've had their Bantam A's make it to state in '01-'02 and PeeWee A's in '02-'03 I believe.

The thing is Tech runs the show, at least that's my view as a non-Tech hockey person. EVERYONE from Cathedral or Apollo pisses and moans about how the organization runs. A couple years back SCC wanted their own program, but I heard the state wouldn't let them have an A program. What I would do in St. Cloud is split the program so all of the Apollo and Cathedral kids are together in one association and all of the Tech kids go together in the other. Then we wouldn't be getting in to a pissing match every two days.

zippitydoda...that's almost 100% why I gear my hate towards Hommerding. The Tech players are good kids. In the GCC, those guys played twenty minute periods. At the end of the tourney it was almost like they played four full HS hockey games in three days. Then to make them run after the game was just ludicrous.
