Lee's site has Worthington over Marshall6-3. What happend to Marshall? They've dropped back to back games to Luverne and Worthington, these were teams they 6 goaled the first time around.

Faribault 3
West 2
Far scores two goals in the last 5 minutes (last one coming with 27 seconds to play) to get the win. Good game to watch. Both teams battled hard in a pretty clean game

Not sure about shots but West led 1-0 after 1 even though Far controlled play mostly because West took a couple of penalties. 2nd period West dominated for the most part and led 2-1. They just missed a great chance as time was running out in the second. West controlled most of the third period until they went shorthanded with about 5 minutes left. Far capitalized on the man advantage and really put the pressure on the last minute and were rewarded with a goal with 27 seconds left. My guess is if these teams play ten times they may split 5-5

Waseca

Post by goaler »

Waseca 4, LStP 2

Not much to say except that Andy Meyer scored two goals and hit the pipe three times.

Does anyone know about Luverne-Farimont? And Windom?

New Prague 5 New Ulm 0
As a 1a fan it's sad to say how week is section 1a? People were talking West as the #1 seed and they got housed by NP 9-2. Then they get beat by Fairbault who is also in that section. Orono is another team in there section and one of NP's losses. I will say that all of the contenders in 1a will be matched up really good for some great hockey. Looks as maybe 3 or 4 teams have a shot at it. Just too bad the beatings at state.

Bomb, I agree that 1A is not very strong. But lets look at something. its hard to compare teams from game to game. Example Fergus Falls beat Brainerd something like 6-2. West Beats Fergus 3-1, Little Falls houses Fergus Falls 6-1 or so. Brainerd beats Little Falls. It goes on and on. What i think is that there are 5-6 top teams in each Class and the it is a crapshoot from night to night

I think we're gonna see some great hockey come Sections. I am excited to see a rematch between West & Albert Lea! I think Essay and his squad might have a few surprises for AL when they'll meet each other at GAC. Either way it will be some great hockey! :)

Austin

Mayo 8, Austin 1

Austin's season of pain continues. For those keeping track, Austin is 1-4 in its last five games. Goals for 9, Goals allowed 42.

Friday they are in New Ulm and Saturday they have an afternoon game against Waseca. Tough times for the Packers.

According to the Post-Bulletin Mayo had 6 PP goals. Is that accurate?
What the heck is going on in Austin?

Albert Lea is the clear favorite in this one IF they play a disciplined game.
They are slightly better between the pipes, have more team speed, more players w/ offensive skill and usually come ready to play.

I am excited...double-header in Rochester on Saturyda

AL vs JM at 3PM and Mayo vs. Century that night!

AL wins 5-0. Dominated from start to finish.

Walton had about 4 points with 2 goals.

Lourdes 4
Marshall 1

Shots 19-18 in favor of Lourdes. Clean and even game but refs took over and called a lot of penalties. 5 on 5 was very even and actually Marshall got more shots 5 on 5 but Lourdes picked up 2 goals on the PP and another as a penalty expired. Definitely can't count this Marshall team out.
