West - AL

Post by stud-lee »

I don't see any of you Albert Lea folks complaining about the refs after this one. Here are my observations.
That short little fat ref was the worse I have seen all year. He made 90% of the calls even though he can't keep up.
Trembley did get run on that third goal and I agree that he completely lost his focus after that.
West did payback Casanova,' however on one of the times he was run, the short fat little ref gave AL a penalty. Couldn't figure that one out. I don't necessarily think you can call the second hit on Casanova a run. He was nearly at the blue line and there was a chase to the puck Did the West kid try to avoid Casanova..heck no, but he was fair game out there and in no way would a penalty been called had he not been a goalie.
AL wanted this one more than West from the beginning and they took West completely off their game from the start.

Finally, while Mark Walton is a very talented player and he showed it in this game, he has to be one of the cheapest hockey players I have ever watched. Constantly giving little spears to players behind and after the play. I saw him give 23 for Kato 3 spears before the kato kid finally turned around and cross checked him in the head. He's also one of the whiniest players and shows no class.

WOW.............you are talking about class....come on man......mark walton was getting cheap shotted the whole game....if he was spearing kids i think they would have got him one of the times.....also your west bench was whining the whole game buddy players and coaches your west coaches yelled out that there was going to be payback on nova.....also just cuz the goalie is out at the blue line does not declare him free game learn the rules..... if you are saying he was free game then trembley was free game in the crease.....which who knows if he was hit....we have that short little fat ref for 90% of our home games so welcome to the club you now know why we complain.....

Lunch & Stud,
I am going to have to disagree with you on this one. I think the litlle fat ref (also the Austin HS principal) does a great job. He is fair no matter where he refs. You can't tell me that other refs wouldn't called 95% of those penalties on Sat.
Stud
Mark Walton-cheap??
He is one of the hardest working players I have ever seen. Name one HS aged player who is smaller that gets cheap shot constantly and doesn't do anything. All his checks are clean. He is a leader for the team. He was the best player on the ice on Sat.

I've seen Walton play for three years at varsity. I don't think he's cheap at all. He plays hard and to win. That's the way the game is supposed to be played.

I thought the refs did a fair job Saturday. Trembley was screaming his head off and shooting the pucks away from the linesman. Still, they gave him leeway and let him blow off steam.

West has an easy schedule the rest of the way. They need to put this game behind them and regroup in case they run into AL again in sections.

Golfreak, your assessment of Mark Walton is spot on except for one thing. Now I have probably only seen him play 6-7 times, but why do you think he gets cheapshotted. I have to agree with stud on this one in that the times I have seen him play he is constantly taking hacks and the likes after the whistle and out of sight of the refs. Don't get me wrong, he's the type of player that I would want on my team as i think he sets a great example with his hustle and he's also very skilled.
West needs to put this game behind them, and if they happen to win their remaining section games and at least split with Faribault, they could get the #1 section seed.

Alot of talk about "class". These are kid's who at times get emotional. I wouldn't say they had "no class". The West coach? Great guy with a ton of class. If both team's win out in section games, they should be 1 and 2. I give AL the # 1 because with the head to head, they took care of business in their own barn in a very formidable fashion. The only thing I have never seen before was the tender shooting the puck after the whistle down the rink away from the ref. The ref had a nice chat with the tender about it and they moved on. Good judgement by said official. The rest of the stuff you see at many intense games by high school aged kid's. One more note, say what you want about Walton, that wasn't the first game that he was by far the best player on the ice.

Nicely put Jackstraw and I totally agree. Hockey is very emotional especially when there are two pretty evenly matched teams playing a game with alot on the line.

idiot, he does not play for himself he a great team player and captain. he is a hard worker and does not just go out there and head hunt if he has the opportunity he will lay anyone out. just cuz he laid the same kid out 5 times in one game from west doesnt mean he is a head hunter it means that kid is just unlucky and keep your head up which that wont always help when walton about to hit you.....o ya west tried to piss walton off by trembley tripping him which motivated him even more to score on trembley twice so pissing him off just motivates him even more and will just hurt your team more...... and that short ref is consistent and i think he calls a little to much but he is consistent both ways which is all that matters

You guys are all a bunch of arctic cat loving dbags from albert lea who dont know the first thing about hockey. When cassanova was out at the blue line he is fair game. The refs who didnt know the first thing about hockey obviously are gonna make a terrible call when they dont know the rules. The whole game the refs were calling meaningless penalties that were clearly in AL's favor. West may have lost their cool a few times but for good reason. West is better and we will see that come sections when the handicapped refs arnt on the ice

take the loss you little AL won 5-1. Did Casanova have the puck!. I am sure the refs know 5 times more then you do. how do you say west is better when we just beat you 5-1 o ya where in the hell do you get artic cat lovers and o ya the game was already in the bag when you tried running casanova over at full speed and jumping in the air 3 feet so quit crying about that face it AL took it to you 5-1. what is your good reason for losing your cool the five goals scored against you?!?!

our best player will lay your best player out and your best player weighs 90 pounds and he will out play your best player which he proved that saturday. and thats all that matters....bitch!

Listen pal you won't be around here for long with language like that. If AL won the game let it stand up for itself.

Wow, I think someone struck a nerve. Fact of the matter is that these teams have split during the season and more than likely will play a 3rd time in 6 weeks although each could get upset in Sections.
That is why the game is played on the ice

I'll take Luverne 6 Fairmont 2.

And I don't know why. Just don't want to read anything about the A.L./West game anymore.

mankatowesthockeylover your team lost and your showing as much class as your team did on the ice. refs didnt make u lose by 4 goals, the team did. yes there is still one matchup left, and its the one that means the most!
