McDonagh.

He's a smart D and plays oncoming rushes well.
He's strong enough to throw others around.
He's even scarier in the offensive zone.

What more could you want?
That is all,

I'll second the comments on McDonaugh. He's the best from what I've seen. Stejskal and Brutlag are good, but not quite McDonaugh from what I've seen. I will admit I have not seen Kieffer play.

I have not seen the Grand Rapids kid, but of the other 3, I think Kieffer is the biggest difference maker for his team. He can skate the puck up very well, hit like a ton of bricks, and has one heck of a shot from the point. He doesn't have the same supporting cast around him that McDonaugh and Brutlag have so he has to do more on his own. He's a great player and will be fun to watch in college with a bunch of good players around him (I believe at St. Cloud).

I agree with everything in this post. Saw him last year, in the fall Elite League this year, the 2-0 loss to CDH (hit the pipe twice with the smoke wagon), and the WBL game at Aldrich. Love the kids game. SCSU is getting two good ones in Kieffer and Christian. Haven't seen Stejskal except on TV. I would take Kieffer over Brutlag, but McDonagh is the best d-man in the state.

Stejskal was a difference maker against CLoquet.

I think there are two worthy defensemen that could be in this poll.

Duluth East's Collin Traschel, Elk River's Brandon Martell

Martell? Martell has not impressed this year. But "God's gift to the game" is noticable, yes.

2.mcdoungh
3. kiefer
4. stejskal

brutlag and mcdoungh are both equal on defense but btulag is better on offence

Pat McClure from orono he has 25 pts this season. I have seen him play a couple times this year and he is very good and can compete with anyone in the state he has a real passion for the game.

Joe Gleason and Joey Breme from Edina are solid and Chris Student from BSM is also a solid defensemen, Gleason comes up into the play often and creates a lot of add man rushes adn Breme is very hard to beat from what I've seen, he can skate with anyone and has great stick work. Chris Student is a complete package solid in all areas and is strong. Breme is going to Denver after a year in juniors i hear and Student is going to northeastern. Gleason's still only a jr.

i also agree with the coments earlier mcdonagh is one hell of a defensman he is the all around package, he is everythgin a coach could ask for and more, he is an outstanding team leader, he sees the rink very well, he is smart, he is strong on his skates, and not only can he shut down just about any rush but he is very offensive minded, and i have whatched him play the past 2 years.

I'm not sure you've seen McDonough play if that's what you think

McDonagh

Its no fluke that he a top 15 projected pick in the NHL draft. He has no weaknesses. It could be argued that he is the top MN defenseman since Brian Lee. Incredible kid to watch play.
