I am so ticked off that I had to leave early; clearly, I missed the best part of the game!
So, to those who were there, how did WBL get back in this thing? I was there for half of the game, and they looked listless. Even Hansen looked slow and unmotivated. And the defense was awful! Galloway made at least two of the mistakes that led to goals early on.
Could I get a summary?

in the second down 3-0, WBL scored a shorty, and then mins later got another one mid to late in the second, and then scored midway through the 3rd to tie. Hanson scored the 4th on a nice screen shot to give them the lead. A bit later CDH scored on a break away and tied it up with about 4 mins to go!
I thought WBL's D looked poor at times.. but they have a couple kids on D that can really play too... Though, I though CDH looke very tired in OT.
The final goal hansen went to the net and #23??? popped in the flat laying rebound! That was the game!

Where does it say in the rules that you get TEN for that?
Is it the same for "HONKY" ?

just curious........

No bitterness here, WBL came back from 3-0, they deserved to win. Generally the refs will not give a misconduct for "waving" to the fans. The CDH coach was livid about something someone on WB's team said. This is a very laid back guy, so whatever it was, it really must have been bad.
As far as antics before the game, everyone's trying to intimidate each other, fine. If it's "old time" hockey, than that had very little class also.

You like to talk out of both sides of your mouth my friend! "No bitterness" yet at the end you use the words "little class" hmmmmm.....Zeke16 wrote:No bitterness here, WBL came back from 3-0, they deserved to win. Again, I know he did not flip off the fans... and think about this... how do you do that with hockey gloves on? Not an easy task! And he DID NOT take off the gloves when he did it! Just something to think about! I know the kid (#11) was on a short rope... the officials had talked to him a numberof times before that incedent!
I would agree, the the CDH coach did flip, and I would imagine for good reason! Im sure not saying the kid is innocent of not saying something to another player!

Game misconduct and a fine or what?

Slinger, he's referring to "old time" hockey and the pre-game antics having little class not specifically WBL. It's a bit of a conundrum for me having to stick up for a private schooler but I'm obliged to call 'em as I see 'em.THEGunslinger wrote:You like to talk out of both sides of your mouth my friend! Wish I could've been at the game last night it sounds like it was the kind of game that I drive all around the Cities in January to see. Hopefully Saturday's game against Roseville will be as good.
Slinger you might be right on Galloway, based on the posts here he didn't have a good game.
In regards to Hansen, he was benched in the 2nd period of the Schwan's Cup game against Centennial, allegedly for swearing at his teammates and then mouthing off to his coach. He's unquestionably a very talented player, but seems to have a questionable attitude. Is there evidence to suggest that he's seen the light or will he be up to his old tricks again in a few games?
I didn't get to last nights game but way to come back Bears....
Last year I was at the CD/WBL game at Highland and the Cretin fans are the most rude fans I have seen. Maybe it was the tight quarters, I don't know but those kids are obnoxious.
I think it is always funny when the fans from private Chrsitian schools are the worst acting fans around.

I for one have said things I shouldn't have in my life, done things I shouldn't have (plenty of times.) You guys have got to get off of the Jake thing, he has grown to be a fine young man, he has made mistakes and paid for them, have any of you made mistakes?
If Vill. did say what he said, there should be reprocussions. (but what did the other kid say 1st?) Sometimes things fly out of there mouth that shouldn't have. Not that it's right it just happens.
The problem is there is very little disipline on the team. That I blame on Sager. Among several other things. Sager is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. The problem is he wants to be friends with the kids instead of the coach. He has to learn to be a coach and take charge of the team, not let the team take charge of him.
Coach Long has got the goalies so skrewed up it's unbelievable, I have a feeling that coach Long has no feelings? Some of the things I have heard him say to the goalies "like you better stand on your head today or you will get pulled" talk about pressure, or games that were payed on the JV goalie at the Scwans cup, unacceptable behavior for a coach. No wonder the kids have no respect for the COACHES. To gain respect you have to give respect.
That is all, for now

Can we say disgruntled player! WOWZA! Its obvious that this person has had some issues with the staff at WBL! Hey, come on, what kids dont! Last time I checked coaching is not a popularity contest. Some coaches are to strict, some are errogant, some dont know the game, some have large ego's... I mean come on, I have heard it all! This kid is obviously upset... sounds like a goalie too! and that whole thing with the JV... what the heck did that mean??? Just was really confused at the end!
I thought this was to talk about a great game... not rip the coaching staff...

Re: Great game
The best game I have seen this year. Hansen was flying and is playing better without the puck. McDonagh was outstanding and seemed to never leave the ice. I don't think Hickey lost faceoff all night and gave the Bears fits down low and on the boards. White Bear D-man Taylor Johnson was also outstanding ands seems to play better each night.HOCKEY SCOUT wrote:One of the best games I have watched all year. 3 top flight division 1 players on the the ice slugging it out. I have watched Hansen 9 times this year for our organization and thought it was his best game this year. If he continues moving the puck and playing defense his draft status will continue to rise. I don't know what has changed since earlier this year but he is putting his talent to use and becoming the player he should be. The 2 Cretin players where outstanding as well.
The way I say the pregame thing with Hansen. Most of the players had left the ice and a few players were shooting yet including Hansen. 4 or 5 Cretin players decided it was their job to get the Bear players off the ice and were standing in front of the Bear net collecting pucks. Hansen fired a shot missing the net and everyone else. Words were exchanged between Hansen and another player who I won't name. Then the Cretin coach starts yapping at Hansen as well. He flipped the puck into the bench, not at the coach.
I agree the kid needs to grow up. But since when is it the home teams job to get the visiting team in the locker room? There was a lot of yapping and after the whistle stuff going on by both sides all night.
The people who were not there are going to think it was a riot or something. It wasnt.
Nobody threw a punch.
The kids went at each other hard and played great.
If there were racial slurs made, then that needs to be addressed because that crosses the line of anything that is acceptable as attributable to " the heat of battle" .
But other wise it was just 2 teams that both wanted to win. A little attitude by both teams is good. We dont need to protect our little darlings from everything. They will laugh about it over a few beers someday real soon.
I wouldn't want to play either team right now.

Errogant-Yes
Strict-no
Know hockey -yes
Know the game -no
The JV thing was, Long told the goalie after the game there was someone waiting in the hall for him to give him an all tournament award. Know body was there, When he came back in Long had the whole team laughing at him. Nice guy.

Coaches
I don not know the the coaching staff at WBL at all. They have done something right here over the last month or so. Hanson is playing the "GAME" as a team player and working both ends of the ice, the team is moving the puck and playing hard. I will say it again, this team is not as talented as some people in WBL think they are. Last night they beat a team that has superior talent across the board. So if anything credit the coach with getting this team to play the game hard and as a team. I would say he has done as good a job as any coach I have seen this year. The bears might be the most improved team in the state right now from the beginning of the season. I understand people love to take shots at coaches, but truth be told it is usually someone with an axe to grind.
Once again great game for both teams, well played and coached at both ends of the rink.
P.S. I did not see any player give the crowd the finger etc. Accusations of racial slurs are hard to know, but #11 was benched for the rest of the game after he sreved his penalty. Good job by the coach.

Agree 100 percent. Great game. Great fan support by both teams, and the refs let the players decide the outcome.packerboy wrote:The people who were not there are going to think it was a riot or something. It wasnt.

The Villineauve kid is absolutely fearless and will back down to nobody despite being small in size. That's the kind of player I want on my team He was benched and reprimanded by the coaches for whatever he said.

Funny most teams have a few kids (nonplayers) that get the pucks after warmups and put them in the bucket. It seemed to me to be confrontational. Maybe one of the players could drive the Zamboni too and beep the horn real loud.Zeke16 wrote:"I agree the kid needs to grow up. Scotty, because the home team players have to pick up all the pucks after the kids finish practicing shooting 5 feet over the net.
