i think the best duo of younger players belongs at Irondale with Meghan Lorence (Class of 2011) and Gina McDonald (Class of 2010). Gina's sister Anna McDonald played for Totino Grace and got a scholorship to Boston College and it looks like Gina will be even better. Meghan also led the team in points as a 7th grader last year.
Hockeyman31,
I've heard that before of Gina McDonald being better then Anna and also Laurel Miller being better then her sister Anya. In fact I have heard it from both their older sisters. I have seen all four of them skate and they are all fantastic. It will be fun to watch the two younger sisters for the next 3 1/2 years in high school.
Maghan is also a very good player, just like her older sister Amy.

It sounds like your daughter really enjoys the game of hockey and puts forth the extra time and effort to be successfull because of her love for the greatest game on earth. The problem I have is parents coming to practices to micro manage. Sounds like you need to give your daughter and coaches more space. Many parents including myself have become to wrapped up in our childrens hockey careers and lose sight of what is important. Remember "You can't eat your hockey jersey".hockeygod wrote:I watch most of my daughters practices and in addtion to that she goes to open hockey at 6 am 3 days a week at st croix sports center (her idea) and i have to say she enjoys herself and seems to get more out the practice that she does on her own than what the coaches do with her...why don't coaches make practices more intersting for the kids? and you should see the spin-a-rama, it is just hysterical to watch her try and do it

forest lake's D #18 audrey hanmer might be a 8th grader but she plays very well. she is amazing and another player to watch from forest lake is F #4 charise kendrick. she is a 9th grader and has a lot of speed. but i do agree with the girls from irondale. i had the chance of watching them play at the schwan cup tournament when they played against forest lake and those girls were good. i look forward to seeing them play and where ever they end up playing for college...best of luck to the girls who you all have mention
Now that the regular season is over I would like to talk about two Freshmen players from Hopkins.
#22 Cara Johnson is a first line center starter and has been for two years now. She has unbelivable moves, hands and set up ability. She leads the team with 21 assists and has 12 goals totaling in 33 points.
#30 Kallie Billadeau is the starting goalie. She has logged 1044 minutes of play with a 2.003 GAA and 480 saves. Though she plays a very tough schedul, she was called the "backbone of our team" by her coach in Star Tribune's Athlete of the Week. Not bad for a 1992 birth year.
To make a varsity team is tough but to be a actual "impact" player is fantastic. Congratulations to all of the Freshmen who have played this year!

Corinne Henning attended Culver Academy in Indiana this year, which plays in a U19AAA league similar to the T'Breds league. I think I heard she led her team in scoring. She is fantastic. She played one year with the St. Paul Blades (8th grade) and led all 8th graders in the state in scoring and was the second leading scorer on a very good Blades team. I see that she made Phase 3 in NDP last month.
