i like your list tsmi9.. it covers almost all of the best players. Hanson, the Albert Lea goalie has recently gotten very hot between the pipes, if she keeps this confidence up, she will be the best goalie in the Section next if she isn't already because she is just as good as Snyder
Other than AL, Austin, Faribault, and Northfield i don't know if their is any really good players from the other teams

i meant the Jepson that plays D- i already had Jensen..i seemed to have trouble finding solid D whose style of play i liked
no one from northfield really impresses me..they are good players but i think there is better in the section
maybe Dupay deserves some recognition but i see Snyder as one of the best and after the AL-Austin and AL-New Ulm game i also like Hanson
my team isnt perfect and by no means im saying they could beat Eden Praire or Edina but in my opinion those are the best player in Section 1A

I was just asking because I haven't seen any of these teams play, and I was just curious if maybe an all star type team from the whole section might be competitive with the metro area's best individual teams. I guess that's one of those things we'll never be able to find out for sure.rubberpickle wrote:my team isnt perfect and by no means im saying they could beat Eden Praire or Edina but in my opinion those are the best player in Section 1A

Austin's top line should be there without Heimsness. She isn't the player she was last year. Has the effort but not finishing.
Of Course Faribaults top line is there. All three.
I also would swap goalies. Hanson as the starter with Snyder the backup. Snyder also has diminished. She looks good because of the team around her. My selection:
F
Jenkins Austin
Faber Austin
Christensen AL
Foley FBL
Miller FBL
Kastner FBL
Black mankato
Bjoraker FBL
Passingham AL
D
Hicks Austin
LaRoche FBL
Jensen AL
Ostoff West
Goalie
Hanson AL
Snyder Austin Backup
Yes, we would beat Eden Prairie.
Jet you coach and know alot of these players who would you select?

there might be a chance but you have to realize with the transfer rules EP is pretty much the All-Star team of the metro... we could pick the best of section 1A but it would be against the best in the cities areafalcons89 wrote: Yes, we would beat Eden Prairie.
LaRoche is a strong defenseman she just doesn't use her strength in the right ways... spends to much time in the box and probably deserves more than she has recieved
There are alot of good players listed above. Naturally I am biased and would have to have Heimsness and Snyder on my team. I have been around most of these kids and there are about 8 obvious choices. The others are close. There would have to be a tryout.
I find it hard to believe that we would not make a run at EP. The numbers would finally be to our advantage.

Those stats are deceptive. One phrase for you "Quality of Shots".
Albert Lea caves in on their goalie and surrounds her. She sees a much higher quality of shots. Where as Austin puts goals on the board and protects their goalie from decent scoring opportunities.
Jet, aren't you proud of me, I didin't use any names. LOL

Against Austin and New Ulm, the AL goalie faced alot of quality shots. Unfortunately too many of them were close in.falcons89 wrote:Those stats are deceptive. One phrase for you "Quality of Shots".

Caving in around the goaltender only creates more problems for the goalie because of limited vision, increased potential for rapid one timers, etc...When the goalie can see well, the majority of the shots are handled.
The D needs to keep the puck wide and away from behind the net. The forwrds need to step up and forecheck as well, and pursue the puck.
I suggest you take a course in basic goaltending, F89
Or did I totally misunderstand your post?? I might have...

You did misunderstand my post.
We are making the same argument. Austin's goalie may have better stats, but Albert Lea's goalie is in a more challenging environment. Albert Lea's goalie sees higher quality of shots. Of course she will really see a high quality and quantity on 1/18/07.
Once again Jet I did not use any names.

Chosing the AL goalie over Austin's goalie is a big mistake...especially basing it on the AL vs. Austin game...Austin's goalie started off shaky but she stopped quite a few good shots after she woke up, and from what i saw of the game and have heard from other teams....AL's goalie gets lucky ALOT...being a good goalie includes controlling rebounds or not having any rebounds at all off of the initial shot, Austin's goalie doesn't give many rebounds where as AL's goalie tends to be flopping around and giving out quite a few rebounds. Being a good..sturdy goalie also means being able to play the puck and being a good skater, which i dont think i have seen AL's goalie do either..a hot streak doesn't last forever...and from experience a goalie tends to play a lot better when she is warmed up and actually facing shots in a game because it is a lot easier to stay awake and in the game. Not so easy off of 2 shots in a period....
Goalies
Have to agree with ya latemodel, Austin has a much better goalie. I would also say Olchefski (A.L. other goalie) is better then Hanson. I have seen both play and to be quite frank Hanson is just not a very mobile in the net and she gives up alot of rebounds.
