Stillwater @ Holy Angels 1-11-07
Stillwater Ponies (7-6) looked like a possible 3AA contender at the beginning of the year, but since then haven't shown the same spark. Do they have a chance or will they just be looking up at the Stars?
Do they have a chance? of course they do... Do I think they will? No.....
Any team has a chance any night. Why they lose is AHA has so much speed, even when you try to slow them down they are fast. Also on their home ice they are tough to beat. But you never know. I have not seen Stillwater and am looking forward to seeing them.

the ponies don't have a chance, they have a pretty solid defense but they cant ever score. But with stillwater coming off a 5-0 loss to woodbury and with AHA still undefeated, the ponies have no chance. AHA will score over 5 goals and stillwater probably wont get more than 1...
my prediction...
7 Stars
1 Ponies

They have done pretty well them Ponies there losses are all to respectable teams, they'll get 1 or 2 but the Super Novas will probably get about 7HShockeywatcher wrote:Stillwater Ponies (7-6) looked like a possible 3AA contender at the beginning of the year, but since then haven't shown the same spark. I cannot believe that someone that has been around as much as boblee has would make a statement like this....They did only beat Wayzata 2-1
AHA played back to back games and still had 40 shots on goal. They played against a real tough goalie who was on fire that night.
AHA plays Wayzata again the score is much worse, then what. Wayzata was off that night. Sorry.... AHA will be riding the ponies all around the rink..
7 - 1...

Boblee is right. The longer Stillwater can stay in the game, the shorter it becomes. The shorter the game, the tighter the grip on the stick and then high school kids feel the pressure and white knuckle on their scoring chances.
With that said, I still think the Co-Stars are the team to beat this year.
Co-Stars 5
Ponies 1

When teams get too confident, they lose. Gophers vs. Holy Cross... nuff said.
Anyways, yes the Wayzata night was an off night for the Stars, and yes it would probably be a much more dominating performance the second time around, but you said it Zam. They ran into a hot goaltender, and that can happen on any night of the week. Don't sign Stillwater's death certificate yet guys.
That said I'll go with the usual...
5-3 Stars

Third times a charm.
Before someone else moves this up I will.....
Stillwater 1 AHA 1 in OT.
Fantastic game, I say again. Stillwater played AHA's game and did everything they needed to do to take AHA out of the game. Strong goaltending, good defense and a nice forecheck. My hats off to them in a great gameplan and execution.
One blemish would be in the first period, AHA had a goal waved off. The faithfull from Stillwater were right there and all grabbed their heads in disgust when the puck went in and were jumping for joy when the refs waved it off.
Fun game....

So this is serious? 1-1? Argh. I really thought they would make it this year, with 1 loss to Shattuck. But again they prove me wrong.
It also goes to show you how tough it really is to go perfect. Being at your top level of play all season long and remain focused is extremely hard to do.
Yet, somehow I knew this game would be trouble. Looking at the Missota games I figured all wins. Then they would probably beat Benilde in a close one. Hill would be tough and they could lose to them and more than likely a loss to Shattuck. Best case scenario they go 24-1, worst would be 22-3.
Good job Stillwater. You've hopefully leveled the heads of those Stars and showed them they need to play their best to win the championship. Well boys, you have Hill-Murray in a little over a week, get ready, if you don't come to play on that night you will lose. I'm a Stars fan hoping this is an eye opener for the kids. But as they say, it's why they play the games. They are good, but they are by no means the best, at least not until they prove it in March. But we have to wait until lent for that...
