Lakeville South vs Mayo

Post by gophs21 »

Both seem to have weak teams but great goaltending. How will this game turn out?

If south can get any offense at all, Yumawhatever will keep them in it

did you get to see the GR-South game at all?

55-6 shots but only 3-0? was the game really that lopsided? GR didnt get quality shots??

Yes i was there, and GR would/could have had 6-8 goals if they played any other goalie in that game. Sure GR missed a few chances by not catching passes but Yumasaklar was quick to adjust to any rebounds he left

"Any offense at all" will almost certainly not be enough to beat Donahue.

I think Mayos top line could find the back of the net atleast twice. I'm going 2-0 Mayo

Lakeville South 3 Mayo 2 ?????

Post by Sioux Fan »

When is this game and what time. I want to be there.

I think Lakeville South should win but Sackett Thauwald and Alexander can score. Maybe Mayo will get the older Alexander boy and get a little more fire power.

Well I went to last year's boxscore and it was 9-2 Mayo!
The shots were 45-12 in favor of Mayo.
Did they play Yumusaklar all the time last year?

Donohue is playing very well and can win games as well.

I am going to say 3-1 Mayo because their PP is sometimes red hot.

I won't be able to make it. I have a meeting and will try to get to the Lourdes game instead.

Good Luck to both teams. I like a lot of players on both teams and hope that everyone plays well. Last year Lakeville South was all underclassmen
no seniors this year they have some good seniors and have played some very strong teams tough.

I hope Brandon Binder is OK I look for top players to watch Reece Dabroski, Alex Messick, Hakan Yumasaklar, Brandon Binder, Josh Hofstad,
Jake Binder, Chris Cass for Lakeville South all did a good job for us in Elite II.

For Mayo I like the following players so far this season.
Kevin Donohue Goaltender
Tony Sackett Forward
Mitch Anderson Forward
Matt Alexander Forward injured
Tom Alexander Sophomore Forward
Charlie Thauwald Sophomore Forward
Sophomore line of Fisher, Whitney and Flott have been playing better and better every game
Not as many that stand out to me as South has.

Should be an even match. I just think that South should have an edge playing at home and playing the schedule they have been playing.

I hope Mayo works hard and forechecks better than they did vs Century the other night.

Ok, so Sioux Fan coached Elite 2. If he knows players that he has coached he is going to talk about them. He knows what they are capable of. Now it's bad to talk about players you know and have coached? Enough of the junk about i love donaghue t-shirts and riding next to him on a bus.

Off topic, but I was told today Matt Alexander should be playing this weekend vs at least Virginia, and possibly Hibbing.

I'm just guessing, but since none of the locals have reported the score Mayo won the game.

I stand corrected... Congratulations South!

South 2 Mayo 1

Post by iwatchalotofhockey »

Well I broke down and went to see these tenders that everyone was raving about.

Yumusaklar came out on top and is in my opininion a very good goalie. Shots were not ridculous in favor of Mayo as I thought they would be based upon reading some of these posts about the Lakeville South games. I think they were outshot by 10 or so this game.

Key to this game as I was telling one of the South parents was when they killed a 5 on 3. SHortly after that South scored in a Cardinal Sin way with under a minute to go in the 2nd. I told her if a team doesnt score with a 5 on 3 man advatange that it will come back to haunt them and in this case it did.

Another key was South's goalie of course. He stopped a short handed break away by Mayo. The only goal that they did get I am sure he would like to have back as it looked like one he normally would have had.

Other than that it was a sloppy game IMO but the better goalie came out on top in this one.

Quite honestly it reminded me of how the Wild played in years past. Get a lead and rely on your goalie to pull it out for you. But with a kid like Yumusaklar I can see how that can happen.
