The fact that this game is being played in Hermantown definately helps the Hawks. I'm gonna go with...

Home ice is definately nice, but when your cities are right next to each other, it's not as big of a deal, in my opinion. It's usually a bigger deal for teams that play each other cross state. Moorhead is a great example of this.

They have no fans at away games and the visiting team will have none at home games. And driving to North Dakota, or from it, takes a lot out of ya.

definitely the two best teams in class A right now. Both did good in holiday tournaments. I'll pick:

Marshall 5
Hermantown3

Zamboni Guy may, have been, referring to first/last line change and the crowd will overwhelmingly favor Hermantown. Should be a close game with penalties/missing players being a major factor.

This is what I was referring too, the Hawks will be able to match-up lines much easier having the last change, and even though the two schools are only a few miles apart the crowd will be overwhelmingly in favor of Hermantown. Another factor that could help (I must admit I haven't been to the rink in a while) is the famous "Hermantown Hump" that the Hawks have grown accustomed to skating on every day at practice. Should be a good close game though, but I am feeling a Hawks win.

Both team have very weak schudules (I cant spell) but Hermantown's is in fact easier. Marshall takes this one from the Hawks and sends a wake up call to the boys from Hermantown.

I'm not going to claim that St Thomas is better, but they tied Marshall in Duluth, which most with think the home team would easily win a match up like that.

Also, all 3 are undefeated in Class A. I think as of now they are all top in Class A with not much seperating the 3. This game will show a lot if it is won by 3 or more, if not, still won't show much.

 Have you even looked at Marshall's scedule for this year?? Obviously not. Marshall doesn't have the toughest scedule i'm not saying that, but it is one of the toughest in class A. Know what you are talking about before you post.

It is the seventy fourth toughest according to boblee. Doesn't seem exactly challenging. But if your going by class a teams, its still in the middle of the pack.

My quess would have to be there holiday tournament. they had very bad teams in it. I bet if they had one of the toughest scedule things for before the holiday tournaments marshall would not be close to 74, probably closer to 50's, just a quess.

its tough to judge them on the holiday tournament, they cant leave their own, and its probably tough for them to get good teams to come up to duluth to play them, the teams they play now are the same teams they played whem marshall was awful and use to get there butts kicked by them, its a tradition for some of those teams to be in it (teams from many places besides minnesota) ........at least thats the way i see it

My prediction: DM takes this game 5-2, establishes themselves as clear number one in class A

This should be a great game. I have been watching these teams all year and the only real difference I see is Duluth Marshall skates extremely hard for 51 minutes. They fly up and down the ice. I am really impressed at how they back check. At the opening face-off they go to work and dont quit until the game is over. Hermantown plays great position and can shut down a #1 line, but once in a while they will take a shift off and get burned. I still think Hermantown is very good though.

Hermantown needs to stay out of the box. Marshall is too quick and
too good and will easily win if they are continually on the power play.
