ssp probably takes the biggest loss to graduation in class a. from what i saw of them during the state tourney this past year, they didn't have much depth, rotating through only two lines. unless they get new transfers in, i'd guess this could be one of the first "rebuilding" years for ssp. a question i have is- has ssp ever had a losing season? i heard somewhere that this was the first year they didn't win their conference??

looking ahead, i would take blake to win that section, i was impressed by them all year long, and if i recall right, most of them are underclassmen?? i agree on new prague also having a great shot at the class a title, but i think overall, anyone could win it. i guess we'll have to wait and see!

SSP will find a way to be competitive I'm sure.

Blake:

Player Stats G A Pts.
1 Katharine Chute 27 24 51 (Jr)
2 Clare Zutz 19 30 49 (Sr)
3 Berit Johnson 10 31 41 (Sr)
4 Laura Komarek 18 14 32 (Jr)
5 Alyssa Saunders 13 17 30 (Sr)
6 Margaret Chute 13 16 29 (Fr)
7 Sally Komarek 15 14 29 (Fr)
8 Molly Stankovsky 2 13 15 (Sr)

Some key losses, but also some nice returning players (including a few real nice young players)...

If this comes down to goaltending I like Blake. They are the only team in the top three that has their goalie back. It is hard to say or know how SSP will be. If they get another solid group of transfers they will be back in the hunt. If Palmquist doesn't return than the recruits won't be there.

Blake has the advantage and should win the section and should contend for the state title.

Saw the Blake goalie the other night against our Wayzata in a showcase game, she does look very sharp and shut down Wayzata that nite, I agree Blake has few peers in this section.

Blake. Great coaching and quite a few talented players with speed. It also seems that they add very talented young players every year, so that they're going to be strong for years to come.

Blake - Great coach, some amazing players, and look for their young goalie (Chloe Billadeau of Chaska U12A fame) to be a future star & great backup to Bowens-Rubin? I believe Chloe is cousin of the Hokins G with same last name.

Don't look past Mahtomedi though. May is still there, and while they lost a great G to graduation I think they still will be a team not to look past to say the least!

SSP got a G I believe too, and with the Simones & Bauerfeld girls they too still hurt from graduation but can't be looked past.

TG lost an amazing kid in McDonald, but will contend I woudl imagine.

Shocking that SSP has brought in another goalie. I am not surprised. I would hate to be a goalie from SSP because it is basically a guarantee that you will not be playing for the HS team. Sad.

DYNAMITE game. Could've actually went either way. Blake is pretty darn good. I'm guessing class A state champs, but Maht. was right there with them the whole game. They just didn't quite have the firepower as Blake.
