I know your not on A because anyone on A would be too embarrassed to be posting on here after the teams success, or lack of.

ahhhhhh, ummmm countrygentleman - the topic heading does say B1, so really that should have been your first indication. I reported the two game scores that I am aware of and did not editorialize too many biases. Maybe your moniker should be "skeptical but not very observant countrygentleman"

I appreciate the connotation in your moniker that you might be well mannered, but how is it that you believe that Bantam A parents would have a higher degree of decorum or approach to the game then any other hockey parent? Now again if you would please, I should be embarrassed because........????

Don't underestimate Woodbury, they took care of Champlin 6-1.

Woodbury is moving up the ladder quickly. Granted it has been with a weaker schedule but they are really rolling right now. Wooping up on an above average Champlin squad. They will be there coming out of a below average district.

I would've picked EP Black over Chaska. It surprises me that Blaine only beat Gold by 2. I still dont see them as a #1 team.

EP Red is #1 right now as far as I'm concerned. Things will get shaken up this weekend.

OK all you Bantam B1 Rubes, what is the better tournament this weekend, Midwest Regional or Edina?

Midwest Regional

Post by blueblood »

EagleGuy, you rang? Here is the score you are waiting on:

#15 Lakeville South - 1
#19 Minnetonka - 3

Overall impresion - Good game between equal teams. The Tonka goalie made more clutch saves and the Skippers capitalized on their chances.

BB1 rankings

Post by blueblood »

SPS:

It appears the path is paved for EP Red or Woodbury to take over the top spot in the rankings this week, based on the results of last week:

ER over Centennial Red and Blaine
EP Red over Edina Black and Edina White
EP Black over Edina Black and Edina White (nice job EagleGuy!)

Both the Midwest Regional and Edina tournaments are great events. Edina has most of the current top 10 teams, but the Midwest Regional has 2 top 10's (Blaine and Woodbury) and 6 more top 20's (Chaska, Jefferson, EP Black, Champlin Park, Lakeville South, Minnetonka).

The one drawback to Edina is that only 4 of 12 teams get to play 5 games. In Bloomington all 12 teams get a minimum of 4 games, with some playing 6 or 7, if you make the semifinals.

What if Wayzata Blue beats Red? Are they in the conversation anymore? I believe they should be considered again if they have a good showing this weekend. Keep in mind they have beaten Blaine and Elk River handily. Struggled a little, but look to be getting better and better. I would watch out for them. Top line is something that will keep hands full in playoffs.

I know its tough to consider them after last year and the beginning of this year. I'm sick of them too.

We still have to talk about the best teams however, and I just havent heard much about them lately and I believe they are worth talking about.

Poll Shakeup

Post by blueblood »

I hear ya, SPS.

My point was if EP Red wins out this weekend, then they should move to #1. If they don't and Woodbury has a good showing at the MWR, then they may be the next #1.

If they both lose, then #1 is going to be a little harder to detemine and will probably go to the Edina tournament winner based on tournament strength.

A few questions for the BB1 rubes:

Does anyone know how EP Red did against Littleton, CO ysterday?

What's the injury report on Edina White #9 and #21? Are they expected to play in the Edina Tournament?

How about the boys in Blue from Wayzata? Are they getting over thier injuries?

Eden Prairie red and Littleton CO played this morning, EP RED 5 Littleton 3

Littleton took to many dumb penalties, and I believe eden Prairie scored 3 power play goals...Good power Play and a empty net goal

Littleton Had some good chances also, but couldnt convert.

Gotta love seeing all the "blueblood stains" on the Board. Great coverage!! I swear to you MNHO must have been hit by a bus or something. Scooby-Doo, WHERE ARE YOU?!?!?!

I would have to say Edina is the premier, but what a great situation to have both of these great tournaments available . . .especially for those of us selfish folk who A) don't want to drive very far and #2) have two good teams at the same level and don't get two invites in green envelopes. I am really enjoying going back to my roots this week and may even break out my old 1987-88 Silver Stick pins for the weekend.

I have to take a pass on whether EP Red is a viable #1. Too many conflicts of interest there. Not about to start any Holy Wars in the sleepy SW Metro suburb.

Thanks for all the interest and updates by everyone out there. I gotta tell you that all the attention to the B level makes it that much more fun to coach and be involved in. Especially when your team has the potential to be District Champs, but may finish 8th just because that's how good the District is from top-to-bottom. Wonder if it's too late to play in D5 this season? Hmmmm......

Blaine over EP Black 2-1

Hey Eagleguy, are you the coach that taught your player to hold the door shut while the Blaine kid tried to get on the ice during a line shift? I can't say that I've ever seen that move before. It was worth a couple laughs.

Good luck. You've got a solid team. You're goaltender played real well today.

Blaine takes their pool with 34 out 39 possible points. Woodbury is the frontrunner in their pool with a game remaining against Roch Red. Mtka is ahead in theirs and faces Andover. Lots of possibilities for 4th place at this point, but Chaska may have the edge there. Top 4 get a bye in the 12 team bracket play that starts tomorrow.

$0.02 . . . No, I emphatically deny teaching that manuever . . .in Bantams, we don't use doors anymore, so why teach that. (And have you seen #4, the 4 foot nothing winger on my team? Over the boards each time. No mercy!)

B-L-U . . .we may have some problem . . . the first tie breaker is head to head, which means Chaska goes up over EP Black. How does this affect Andover? Thanks for the early indication of my game time. First time in the tourney as a coach, so I am new to the scoring system.

Any Edina Invitational updates coming in yet??

Lakeville South over Littleton CO, 5-4.

The Rochester team in the Midwest Regional tourney is Rochester Black, not Red. Roch Black's biggest issue right now is consistency; They had the lead vs Jefferson 2-0, before breaking down. Rochester Red is in Eagan this week.

Woodbury over Rochester Black, 4-1.
