How can he be a Saint if he is not Catholic?

Was he recruited?

What are you, LDS?

P. S. Done researching, yet (PAGES OF POSTS LATER)?

Have not found it yet, but I have my second best man on it and expect a report sometime before...

Lent.

But I have not forgotten.
And I will give the victors their due, whether Luther backers or Romans or a mixed breed.

Thats great elliott.

Its good to know you can get religion in the public schools....and for free. So, I wonder what the 'upper hand' is that the Cartholics have. Well, you think about it.

Lent is actually derived form the old English 'lente' which means spring time but what the hey.

I guess I get to watch the Queens tonight because the hockey game was cancelled. What a bunch of weiners. It aint even snowing.

You can take GOD out of the public schools but not out of the hearts of the true believers.

Like I said before the good LORD would surround himself with those that needed to be saved over those that already know the truth, who in turn are charged to spread the good word..... and I just can't think of a better place to do it then a public school these days....and it doesn't have to be in classroom prayer or shown with religious symbolism, but thru fellowship... but of course Me, My Self, and I probably will have a different spin on that.

I believe it is ignorant to think that religion somehow resides better in one setting or another (Private or Public school ) when it really resides in the soul of us all.
Just think if all the Catholics or (whichever religion you want to pick) all just stayed huddled in their own little groups how would they have got to where we are today?(something like 80% are Christians)

Hate to say it but they spread out into the masses (Community) and multiplied making more good not just a few excellent?

I went to the best source I could think of, Mr. Hockey of 1964 to 1966.

I await his reply.

Paul could not have been Catholic as he died (a painful and terrible death for not burning incense in the name of Cesaer, the god of Rome) 300 + years before Cesaer and the Romans established the Catholic Church.

And you do not need to be a Catholic to be named a Saint. The Pope has just taken this on as his charge.
In actuality, all believers are saints.

Yes, PB.
Lent was Lente or Lenct depnding on which part of Merry ol' England you lived. It is an anglo-saxon word meaning that time of year in which we now call March comes. Springtime in Merry old Engalnd.

One of my forefathers came from the NW part of England and he told me that those in his area spelt it Lenct.
Not really as Thomas Gaylord (my multi great-grandfather) did not arrive in this part (USA) of the world unitl 1630 on a ship called the John and Mary.
Why leave old England?
He was a deacon of the church and they were being told how they could worship (and worse who they could recruit for the cricket team!)

So St Paul kid

Dont waste your time with the Vikings.
Re-read the book of John (that's the new testemant part of the Bible).
And then lets discuss the significance of turning water to wine come Lent at good old Tom Reid's (if they let me back in after last years little skirmish).

I am not sure if the Cartholics have an upperhand.

But the private schools sure do as they have less earthly overseers.

But that is only good if they allow for freedom of ideas and questioning of that which is taught as rote.

I know (first hand) that that was a problem in merry old St. Thomas aquinas elementary to middle school (today;s term). (And the wrists remember with vengence)

This topic is so ridiculous. face it if they can afford private or get help to attend their more power to them, but to continue this thread and continue with God and events is foolish-stick to hockey!

Hockey permeats are way of life in Minnesota.

We, the posters on this thread, recognize and celebrate that.

Casualfan, have a little bread and wine and I think you'll find this thread transubstantiatal.

elliot, don't bother with Tom Reid's if they kicked you out, we'll be at the Liffey. It's my home during the tourney, without conundrum.

The Liffey???

Across the street from Reids and back to the Excel????

But that's where I will go, entering the room "We're with Chris K so no one punch me in the back of the head this year."

And Casual

Two parts to this ongoing thread

1 Who will be at Kellog & 7th (???) the excel come March play-off.
Second part of part 1 - who are you rooting for.

2 What is happening with Open Enrollment and how will it affect everyone.
Second part of part 2 - is it fair, the right thing, the American way

Then stir it all together with a little religion and humor and history and

for some of us - entertainment
and hopefully

a throw back to what this BOARD meant to some at its inception.

We did move things to the Liffey last year and thats fine. Its a little closer and not quite as jammed as TR's but still a lot of people.

Casualfan, I respect your right to not participate nor like this thread. Go over to another thread and enjoy. There are a lot of threads I haven no interest in.

As far as Paul goes, wasnt he the one originally named Saul who was an officer in the military and Christ renamed him when he became an apostle and put away his wordly things and followed Him.

Wasnt it St Paul who wrote " when I was a child I acted as a child, spoke like a child and reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up my childish ways"

I hope so because if Sistert Mary Rose is readin this she will kick my butt if I am not right.

"For the weak minded." I believe the singlet wearing governor created quite a stir when he publicly floated this notion a few moons back. I guess I have to take Jesse to task on this one, religion isn't for the weak minded, rather it's for people who want clarity in their life. It's just too bad that some casualfans seaking clarity still can't see nor think clearly.

PB is correct Saul persecuted the Christians before being named Paul the apostle and did in fact give up his worldly ways to follow the Lord.

You know IS, I was at Mass the Sunday after that moron said that and our priest addressed it in the homily.

He said that he agreed with the governor. Religion is for the weak minded.

But he quickly added that what the governor fails to realize is we are all weak minded. So , our priest said, all the governor is really saying is that religion is for everyone, including the governor who may need it more than most.

I thought it was a pretty good way to address it.

Not a problem with clarity just don't give a rats a$$ on the topic. From my old bartending day's don't bring in politics and religion to my end of the bar. A good sports topic and I'll listen and serve all night long. Everyone has their opinions and that is my last one-too many other great topics on this message to check out. Either way boy's keep up the good work/discussion I'm out!

See PB, now that's clarity, what time is that mass this Sunday?

Casualfan.. this thread is just like a buffett of salty, fat fried, greasy appatizers the day after a late night. It's all so good, there has to be something in there you just can't stop eating!
