West 6
Northfield 2

Goals by 6 different West players. Nice rebound win after the disapointing loss to JM.
Trembley bounces back nicely in goal.

Shots about equal at 31-30 although West was on the PK almost the entire 2nd period

AL vs JM

Post by golfreak »

AL wins 4-1. Pretty strong effort from this team coming off a somewhat sloppy victory at Owat. Casanova was good in nets. AL pretty much dominated the last half of the game with JM taking some dumb penalties.

Faribault beats Austin in OT, 5-4 not sure on that, plus Mayo beat them in OT. Interesting since Marshall dominated Austin 7-1 last weekend. Marshall goes to St. Francis and Cambridge/Isanti this weekend. Don't know anything about either team but should be first real test for this team.

What the hell is this all about? Get off the sauce fixxer.

New Ulm and Albert Lea tonight?

What's this game going to look like, could be a big game for section seedings.

AL v. NU should be a tough battle, AL has alot of momentum coming off of a big 4-1 win over a pretty decent JM team. This could possibly be the game that decides who gets the number one seed in 1A with the exception of West... so look for both teams to be fast and physical as AL v. NU usually is.

I believe you when you say you have no life, but you are definitely not a wackjob, just an idiot who finds himself funny.

To the topic at hand, which is section 1A hockey, if Fixxer didn't know, how has New Ulm fared this year, and do they have a shot to knock off AL tonight?

AL vs. NU

Post by grafmaster »

Albert Lea - 4

New Ulm - 2

New Ulm had a decent last drive but just couldn't outplay AL this time. AL dominated the 1st, pretty even the 2nd, and it was back in forth in the 3rd. Plenty of penalties as always in the newly remastered game of boys hockey making it more like girls....

I agree grafmaster, it feels like we are watching squirt hockey now. I guess we will have to start teaching the kids not to take the body, it's the only way they'll stay out of the penalty box.

The reffing in high school hockey has gone to far...most of the refs especially in this region but its happening all over the state are idiots...a body check is not a penalty its part of the game...i agree with cleaning up the game but its turning more and more into not being hockey

Penalty

Post by grafmaster »

I can recall one penalty that was extra bad, although all were not penalties a year or two ago, but a kid ran into one of AL's players, fell over, and what do ya know... PENALTY! For what? not quite sure. guess there is ALOT of adjusting to do

nu vs al

Post by eaglescout06 »

I agree the PP will be a major factor this year. AL scored two PP goals tonight and one goal on an empty net. This was a great game of two teams that will be alive in the end. Al dominated the first, second was even and I think NU had the advantage in the 3rd. Good game to watch. Remember last year NU beat AL at home early in the season and who got the higher seed in the end. Maybe this one will be chalked up as too early to tell like last year. Regardless both teams know they should see each other at the end of the season.

AL vs. New Ulm

Post by goaler »

Very entertaining game.

After the first period, I thought Albert Lea was going to blow out New Ulm. The shots were 18-5 for AL in the first period. Shots in the second were 13-10 AL. But goalie Adam Buegler kept New Ulm in the game. He ws the No. 1 star for NU in my opinion. Very solid goalie, with strong fundamentals.

In the third, New Ulm showed grit and Albert Lea looked ragged. This was their second game in two nights. They beat JM on Thursday. The Eagles had them scarmbling around in their own zone on several occassions and nearly tied the game several times.

I agreed with most of the penalty calls except one against AL's Hegwood (sp?) in the third period that almost allowed NU to tie. It was a bad call. Walton though made a great play to steal the puck and score the empty-netter. Very fun game to watch, and hats off to the Eagles for battling all the way to bitter end.

Waalkens played OK in the AL net, but the old goaler recommends that he work on rebound control. He gave NU many juicy opportunities in the second period that he got away with. St. Thomas won't let those opportunites pass.

I did not hear the final shot total but I'm guessing something like 42-30 AL.

i agree that it might be too early to tell seedings, but AL plays west on tuesday and if they come out with a win there i think that will put them in a good position to get number one seed pending on how Marshall does and what the outcome of the Marshall v. AL game is.
