Wayz / Chas

Post by MNHockeyObserver »

CG from RV - Been a month or so since I have seen Wayzers play. Amazing what you can forget in a month. If I recall correctly it was goaltending that has kept them in a lot of their games. The have a red-white-blue padded kid from Armstrong who plays very steady, but I don't think he is their #1. They stop anything shot into their chest, that's for sure. They are not blessed with a lot of good players, but a couple solid ones and not a lot of team speed. A couple good shooters (sorry, no numbers) who can capitalize on opportunities.

Who wanted to know about Chaska? Watched 'em a couple times and neither time were they able to develop any offense. Plenty of average to below-average players (first-year program) but 1-2 good ones. #8 is a talented player, but seems to lack motivation considering his teammates. Their goaltender with the big silver leg pads and "Prince-esque" helmet is a big kid who handles the shots from outside and away very well. Scoring early and often can rattle him. You will have to move the puck to score.

Why are we helping you guys? You're two of the best in the league! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

MV-Green & BP???

Post by SLP Coach »

Since ya'll seem to be in a helping mood.

What do you know about MV-Green and Brooklyn Park.
Suprisingly MVG beat Tonka on a stellar performance from their goaltending and BP seems to be solid on some nights.

We play them Tonight and Tomorrow at home.

bpark....

Post by rave35 »

SLP coach you guys willhave to play physical and get shots on their young goalie. he is pretty good but rebounds willbe there. they are a pretty fast team but if you continuously hit them then it should be a good game... good luck. it could solidify the top twelve..
rave35

coach guy if you guys come out and hit you shouldnt have a problem... They will hit back but will also sit in the box alot. Contiue t peper the goalie and rebounds are always sitting in front. make sure not to get brought into a fight...They will try to antagonize and draw a few players into one... good luck
rave35

b park

Post by CoachGuy »

B park and MV-Green seem to be as even as all teams could possibly be. I watched a 3OT game with them at the super rink tourney, and they tied in league. We have played BP twice and they really get up for out team being that we have some totino grace kids and so do they. 7 and 17 are thier best players, great speed from those two and the rest of the team is just like any middle of the road team. A good night of shooting the puck and solid goal tending and they can beat some decne teams.

Scouting on some mentioned teams...

Post by RinkRat22 »

BP - they are a better team than their record. They are fast and physical. They take shots from everywhere and there goalie that I have seen was pretty good. You are right about BP and MVG being similar teams.

MVG - not overly talented. I saw G #1 beat Tonka all by himself (40 of 41 shots saved) If #1 is NOT in nets, All you have to do is stay wide and crash the net hard when you get shots.

Wayzata - Bottom line: get to them early and often and they'll fold quickly and get chippy.

Chaska - Their Captain is their best player and that's about it. Average talent yet a lot of pride. Again, they'll get chippy when down in the 3rd.

All 4 are beatable 9-16 talent and can give you a run on any night! BP is probably the best of the above bunch, but if MVG G can beat you if you shoot into his chest!

Wessy's Game

Post by BVILLEJRGOLD »

Rat -
I don't want to bad-mouth anybody but the Wessy's coach is starting to piss me off. First we have a game scheduled for Super Bowl Sunday. My team shows up, the refs show up and Wessy's does not. It "should be" their responsibility to reschedule. I had to call him. I spoke with him last night and asked if tonight 2/10 would work. He said yes, go ahead and get it scheduled and he would call his players.

I quickly go on the horn with my manager. He gets an hour of ice and refs lined up for 9:20 at Burnsville. I call Wessy's coach to tell him and he says "No, that's too late to come down to your neck of the woods. I don't think the parents would want that." So he wants us to play a double-header on Sunday. We already play W.B. Orange. I'm assuming we are going to be tired after that game.

So to answer your question, Metro Hockey League wants us to play but if we can't get it rescheduled we take a 3-0 win. I'm not too crazy about a double-header on Sunday.

Wait and see, I guess.
BVILLE

Wessy the Wienie

Post by RinkRat22 »

I understand your frustration. I was a coach at the U16 level 4 years back (first year JG had that level) NSP didn't show up to a game vs my team. It was our home game and we were at the end of the season and the next day we began the playoffs - we were in them and NSP was 1-14 or something...we had to go to NSP and play the horrible Polars just to satisfy the MHL. I (NSP too) would have rather not play that one. So, I feel ya! You have plenty of time following your last game v Tonka on the 19th the MHL playoffs don't start until the 23rd -at the earliest!

I think all league games must be completed by the 19th. I may be wrong, but I don't think I am. Let me know if you know differently.
BVILLE

One gynos opinion

Post by MNHockeyObserver »

Rat, being an MNOB is different than an OB/GYN because all I get to watch are the pu88ies that talk trash for no reason. Not clinical or er0tical.

My weigh-in on the Wessy's scandal is that the Wessy's coach isn't a bad guy he just got hooked into the role and is trying to make too many people happy. You will be tired after the Orange Bear Lake game and might not get the 6-0 win you will need in only 1 hour against Wessy's. Kind of a risk. I don't see your team having a problem with 2 games in a day - happens in tournaments - but the risk is whether you will gain more than 3 goals against if you are tired. Counter-offer with having him play a double-header and see what he says. Your best remaining bet is a MVG/Wessy's double-header (don't forget the 4 hour rule!!!!) or making him play a double-header. Or ask the league to play on the 20th. The problem is that game may have standing implications for you, which means for everyone else as well.

Yes the league games do end on the 19th, but league rules state that if needed, a make up game can occur after that. I feel your pain on the rescheduling mess. We took out or first one on N. St. Paul, and last year we had a mess with buffalo. We still had to pay the officials and the metroleague told us they would get the money back from buffalo for us, BS! That money came out of our team fund. The game was never made up, because neither team was playoff bound. They may have you make it up in order to satisfy the standings unless you are pleased with your ranking headed into the playoffs...But it is an easy 2 points, and you might as well get as many as you can.

Speaking of rescheduling...a 5:30 home game for us down in tonka! ouch!

Wayzata (2) @ Roseville (2)

7 guys tonight put forth one of the best efforts i could ever ask a kid to give. We tied wayzata, but got quite gut check tonight playing the 5th game in 4 days with only 7 people. Tonight was one of those nights that makes coaching worth while...To all of you guys who busted your tails on my team tonight, thank you....only one more game like this to go! Im proud of all of you.

Tomorrow is game 6 in 5 days vs. MV green...take thursday off then its game 7 in 7(tonka)....but we get our suspended players back. It was nice to win that Tourney, but it cost us in the short term. Might make the core stronger and prepared to work thier butts off though after battles like this....

Don't know the score, but Edina and Orange Bear Lake tied the other night. Another good point for Edina and another slip down for Orange.

SLP Vs MV-G

Post by SLP Coach »

Tuesday 2/10/04
SLP 0 Vs Moundsview - Green 3

Park came and played a very good game tonight but was stiffled by a very hot goaltender. Park outplayed MV-G tonight (at least from my stand point) but it wasn't enough to get the puck in the net. Shots were something along the lines of 35 to 25 in SLP's favor. Here's to hoping that the Park squad can pick up the scoring knack for tomorrow nights game Vs Brooklyn Park.

CG from RV: If you had only 7 skaters, your guys did great! You'll get you guys back on Friday v Tonka then huh? That could be fun for your squad.

SLiPper: You ran into that same goalie as Tonka did Sunday, eh? #1 in net for the Green-machine?? That guy is standing on his head and should get MHL Player of the week honors! CHALLENGE TO SLPers: (Take 2 pts from BP tonight and I'll treat SLPCoach and his boombalty to a dinner for Valentines Day) Go for it! "It's your time...you were born for this"

The Rat need some help!? Anyone have any info on BP v Wayzata way back when and/or Edina v FLake. Both are not reported on the MHL site and I am wondering if there is anymore info out there??

guys back

Post by CoachGuy »

Yeah Rat, we get one guy back tonight from a game misconduct, and then we get the rest of the guys back for the Tonka Game, and the RAVE game next week. We will need to get all those points to stay in the top 8 and have a chance to be one win and in. Dont really want to be that 8 see and face EP red!

Yup 7 of the hardest working High School kids i have ever seen....Those 7 really formed a bond last night and hopefully it can carry them and the returning players a ways into the playoffs.

I'll have that MVG score up tonight, and a Coach Guy top 10...

True enough and from what I have seen and read here, you have a very good chance of staying in the Top 8. Too bad for Tonka Friday night. Hope your guys aren't too rusty! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/eek.gif ALT=":eek">

I think RV will finish as the 8th seed. But you will not be playing EP Red, you'll play Elk River because the Elks are going to win the MHL regular season and be seeded one (1). They have 2 soft games with Hopkins and Osseo. Even if Red ties the Elks, ER will win with the goal-differential.

I will post my post-season predictions on the other string.

SLP Vs BP

Post by SLP Coach »

Wednesday 2/11/04
SLP 1 Vs Brooklyn Park 1 (tie)

The Park boys played OK tonight but not good enough to win the game. BP showed up with only 9 players and yes #17 was their best player. Unfortunatly he was playing with an illegal stick, but we never called him on it. The toe of his blade was in the shape of a point which by definition is an illegal stick. He almost scored with 52 secs left to play in the 3rd period but the puck bounced staight up from the goal and never crossed the goalline. During a tussle in front of the net the net was knocked loose. And it was correctly called No Goal. Either way, I would have called him on the illegal stick if it was called a goal. Right after that the 60 min clock buzzed ending in a 1-1 tie. Unfortuntly the game was suppose to be a 90 min game, but the refs were incorrectly scheduled to officiate another game at 7:10 and our game started at 6pm. Therefore we were forced to play a 60 min game incorrectly. Either way both teams knew this prior to the game and both wanted to finish the final 52 secs of the game but the officials said no. Quite a bunch of BS. But a tie is a tie.

How does that work out for ya RinkRat?

Thanks thug,

Yet another good performance by the boys tonight. We lost a guy due to work, but got two guys back from a game misconduct on sunday and one back from a parental decision. So we had one more guy and what a difference he made! Anyways, friday we get the full team back, and have the final 3 games of the year. See ya soon tonka, Rave and EP red
