Yeah Jazzy is right, Hastings is the best team we have played. We went up early 1 to zip they answered on a powerplay, we came back and got then next. They tied it up at 2 with another powerplay goal. We had set a goal to go into the third with the thought that if we win that period we would win the game. We knew that the next goal would probably win it, but once again we got beat by a powerplay goal. Very difficult place to play, seemed like the rink was slanted in our direction...very vocal fans, felt like a HS game atmosphere. We were only missing a pep band

We play canada tomorrow

Hastings

Hastings has a good team this year like always but i think the biggest thing for them is they have a good goalie. The last few years you could score on them and hope that you goalie kept you in it but this year is different. I should have warned you about playing there. The fans are right on top of you and they get some good home cooking from the refs down there.

Thats were we play our D8 playoffs this year. We were supposed to be in this Tourney but we pulled out because we got invited back to Redwood Falls.

yeah i left it out of my post, but as you can see all thier goals were powerplay goals....nuff said. They had refs calling icing when it was clearly waived off by the lines man and it was just a pain in the ass....no whistles for nets off....bogus ass penalties. The ref had a fan section, like people were there to actually see him and he put on quite a show for them.

Ouch, so today we played canada, and at the end of yesterdays game with Armstrong there were some punches thrown, and it got nasty with them and canada. So going into this i knew there was a possiblity of some cheap play. Boy was that an understatement.

First the refs continued to blow goats. The linesman didnt know where to line up on face offs, not once did they call and offsides or icing. the ref called everything, and missed even more. Long story short we won the ugly game 4-2, but got 18 penalties, so ill be watching the game from the stands tomorrow.

Hastings tourney staff, stated thier embarassement in the officiating and appologized.

We ge the winner of lakeville and woodbury, so i will assume its going to be lakeville vs roseville for the 5th place title again.

I was able to watch from up in the stands today due to our 15+ penalties yesterday against canada, and obviously these refs didnt get that memo about head checking and stick work.

No games for this week, but Carlton tourney next weekend.

D8 refs

Post by freighttrain »

The D8 refs are not the worst ever. IMO its only in places like Rochester and Hastings were the refs are not good. In those places you rarely get the regular D8 refs.

thanks freighttrain, ill take that into consideration, but from what i heard the head official (Paul), is a block head. Seems like his officials follow the lead. I dont suggest signing up for the Hastings tourney next year. You may get some bad calls, or worse you can lose players to injury due to bad officating.

referees

Post by jrgoldfan4evr »

You heard right about the lead ref (Paul). He does not like the Jr. Gold league and he is doing everything he can to get the Jr. Gold league eliminated! The more he hears there were fights in the games, the more fuel it gives him. So attention all you players and coaches--Keep your fists and your words to yourselves!! You don't want your refs reporting all this crap to him.

Jr Gold Eliminated??...

Post by RinkRat22 »

...won't happen. No ref, not even our friend Paul can make it happen...I think we can vent our frustrations here in this forum without fear of refs reading it and making judgments based on a few frustrated coaches/fans. All those who put the label "D8 refs suck" on those fellows have only seen their teams falter. I have been apart of may games in Hastings over the years that have been fair. I am sure that the games listed were less than desirable, but not all D8 refs suck. Most districts have "homer refs" and that's the way it is. Please don't anyone living in the USA not to share their frustrations here or anywhere for that matter! The Rat has vented.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p">

We did not see our team's falter.

In the Hastings tournament, The officiating was so horrible that, every kid on the ice was at risk for injury. This is the main reason everyone seems to be venting on this subject. Teams seem to do worse during these games because they feel that they are unsafe on the ice, They are more worried about what might happen to them, than they are about the game itself. And they should. The officials primary purpose is for the safety of the participants. No one has blamed the officials for the outcome of those games last weekend. They criticize them for not doing a proper job of controlling the players, letting the games get chippy, and creating an unsafe environment.

There is my rebuttal, now I need to go get an ice cream sandwich.

And...

...I wasn't in Hastings to see it. You are probably right and so is everyone for having these thoughts. It is a tough place to play, period. I had a bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup.
