Dodge County

That Dodge County position isn't too bad a gig. A couple good young players already on the team and a decent youth program to support it. Seems like some good-spirited, supportive parents, too. Unfortunately, they're a AA team with all the school enrollments combined.

I'm told that the Park job has been filled:

Corey Clark - Last year he was the Lakeville North JV Head Coach, and I believe he also coached a bantam team as well.

I thought the former coach did a great job there too.

Also - are they one of the victims of the "wrestling rule" or whatever came down form the MSHSL via co-ops a couple years back?

Interestingly, we could see the Novas and Blades in Mpls/St. Paul get to go A believe it or not as a result of a new potential rule re: counting assisted lunch students differently as far as classification?

Yes, Dodge County's team is AA because of that bitter wrestling coach. They were single A in 2005, AA last year.

The Blades could be a team to reckon with in single A. I think that they are in AA as it is.

wrestling coach

Post by hockeydad »

For the record, it was the Blue Earth wrestling coach and AD that pushed the change.

for a little "poetic justice," Blue Earth is part of the Fairmont cooperative team in both boys and girls. Those teams got bumped up to AA as a result of the ruling.

You think the Fairmont AD and coaches were a little PO'd. I'm surprised Fairmont didn't drop Blue Earth like a hot potato from the hockey program.

funny how that works sometimes - the schools that want a rule for one reason, get hurt by it for another...

Tracy Engstrom *New* Head Coach at Rosemount.
Tracy was the Asst at Eastview for the last three years
It's a shame that Eastview let her get away, she should do well
when the parents and AD support her 100%.

Congrats! :D

I saw in the Star Tribune today that the Totino Grace job was now open. Does anyone have any information on this one? I know that coach was only there for a couple of seasons.

Congrats to Tracy. My understanding is that she also spent a year coaching in the St. Paul Stars program a number of years ago right after college... Great choice!

Mankato East and Prior Lake

Post by hockeyfinatic »

Prior Lake is a tough town to coach in. Not a great feader program but still need to play in a tough AA section.
Rumor is Mankato East posistion was offered to Nate Fuller - Asst. coach from New Prague the last two seasons! Nate is a great coach and will really help Mankato East get their program back on track.
I wish Nate the best of luck down the road!

Dave Langevin, a former Hill-Murray and Minnesota-Duluth defenseman who played on four Stanley Cup champions with the New York Islanders, will become the coach of the Henry Sibley girls hockey team. Langevin, who lives in Mendota Heights and is a real estate appraiser, said his goal is to build the program and get to the state tournament.

Meanwhile, Langevin picks Carolina to defeat Edmonton in six games to win the Stanley Cup.

Does that mean Lakeville South will now be open? What about Herbs' kids? I thought one of his daughters plays for Lakeville? Will they be moving?
