Moorhead Transfers
squirt transfer
If they transferred after 1-1 that is not allowed.
To transfer before that a MN Hockey transfer form has to be completed and signed by both assn and the
district director(s).

That would not happen in D16 unless they met certain criteria.
Kid not getting the attention is NOT one of them.

Re: squirt transfer
Pretty sure the kid went to Colorado. A former Fargo player/coach now runs a program near Denver, and brings some teams up here for a Fargo, Moorhead and Cities swing every year. One day the kid in question is skating with our program, and the next day he is skating with the Colorado kids against ours. I think the kid will probably be a basket case before too long.

Re: squirt transfer
Actually I am a big Spud fan, but am not trying to shove them down anyone's throat, or discuss them to death. I started the thread talking about an article having to do with transfers, looking for other thoughts. There have been some good responses. I have decided to ignore yours.

High School Transfers
I'm kinda in the middle of the whole transfer deal. In a way I think it's kinda wrong for a good player that plays on a well known team to transfer to another team just so he can win a championship. An example why did Drew Fisher need to transfer to Moorhead? Isnt I. Falls a pretty well known team in Minnesota don't they play some other decent teams? I think he would have gotten enough exposure as it is. I do think that a good player let's say that plays on a team like Pine City, Mora, Wadena, Marshall, most likely would not get any exposure unless they went to the tourney or something. I think that for them to transfer might not be as big of a deal. Just my thoughts, I'm sure I will get disagreed with.

Re: squirt transfer
This topic had some excellent points brought up and varied view points that were all legitimate.... until yours, bronko4life. Way to bring down a topic. Posting a message like that just because you're bitter about Fisher leaving International Falls for Moorhead lends nothing to what was a great discussion.

Re: transfer
I thought the most interesting thing in the article was the fact Bronco Nagurski transferred to Bemidji to get more exposure. International Falls then names their school after him. Now some IF fans are calling Fischer some pretty bad things for doing the same thing.

Re: Moorhead Transfers
There's so many ways to look at this. For the most part the system works, but there are situations where it doesn't. MN hockey needs to address that loophole - but they won't. But it's like any other 'system' it has it's flaws.

Why would someone move from a strong program to another strong program? There has to be more to the story than is being reported.

From a weak program that doesn't offer the different talent levels to a program that does, that makes sense.

Please leave Fisher out of this, he got beat up enough last week. Let it Go Bronco4Life. Excellent Posts regarding this Issue. Nice to see NO BASHING, just opinions.

Re: Moorhead Transfers
Por -
If you are talking about open enrollment transfers MN Hockey has nothing to do with it - it is all MSHSL (the state high school league).
If you are talking about transfers at bantams, pee wees etc... that is a Minnesota Hockey issue and should be brought up on the Youth Hockey Forum (see above list) not here.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... liott70 at: 1/27/05 3:18 pm

Let's not act like this is something new. It's been happening for years and years and years - it was just under the table. Now it's out in the open and rules allow it.

Re: Moorhead Transfers
This topic just shows you that are two side to each and every transfer. Sometimes it has nothing to due with the sports the high schooler or even youth player particapate in. Personally I can't see having my son play somewhere in which I couldn't watch after all the time put into their hockey skills.

But this topic definately shows that sometimes the hometown as well as the new school are affected in both good and bad ways.

The old saying the grass isn't always greener on the other side definately has a lot of merit here.

PS thanks for not bashing this topic and keeping the great game of hockey the topic

"BronkoGETaLIFE"
I have read this thread from beginning to end, and it has been a very interesting and well thought out debate. That is until "getalife" decided to soup it up! It is obvious that he's pissed, and so be it...

Minnesota has over 150 teams that are competative and battle not only on the ice, but within youth communities and programs. Its a very fragile and interesting topic. Other than the fact this article came from Moorhead, I dont think one single person mentioned them in any "domination" fact!

So, Mr "getalife" make your own thread called "disgruntled fan needs support" and move on!

-The Slinger <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">

bronko4life no offense meant...I will gladly back away from an argument that goes nowhere. I just like to talk hockey & this site seems like a good place to get informed so I know what I'm talking about.

Re: Moorhead Transfers
This is an awesome topic that will be debated and should be. Let's not make it personal. Remember we're talking about KIDS. Kids who grew up playing and loving the game. A game very few of them will be playing after high school. Let them enjoy it.

People have their reasons and it's not easy as a family to 'let a kid go' - at any age - youth or high school. But sometimes it's necessary to provide an opportunity that would not of been available in a small home town. Maybe something will come of the sacrifices , maybe not - but without providing the opportunity, one would never know.

Re: Moorhead Transfers
if this is no big deal then why are we arguing about 3/4 of the way through the season. you guys are only seeing one side of it. we are feeliing the bad side. sorry for making peopole mad but that is my opinion.i can speak my opinion.till hurts your program you have no idea.i have a lot of anger this year. the worst season in school history.for the people that played bronco hockey this is a tough subject.you guys really don't understand the pride we have in our hockey tradition.

Bronko
Your town sure seems to ride on the fact that Bronko Nagurski played there. You don't seem to care that he moved during high school to an opposing school. So why the big deal about Fisher? You team would have sucked either way, with or without him.

Re: Bronko
Get a grip, since when does one player make or break a whole team. One player can can help to elevate the team to the next level, but if your level is that bad right now, whats the next level after the basement. Move on guy.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes">

Re: Moorhead Transfers
Great post's people! " very interesting banter".
POR...I do beg to differ with you..MAHA does allow the Opt- Up move of a player from a "B" program to another (assoc.)"A" program, under my circumstance, although there were channels to be followed. I bet "Elliott70" could "confim-expand on this subject" ?

Re: Bronko
I really dont think that a senior transferring to a larger school is all that big of a deal. I'm sure "that kid who got cut because of the transfer" wouldn't have made the team anyway, especially the case in Moorhead. Morinville has a history of not just giving roster spots to seniors so you most likely would have seen the spot go to a sophomore, who would just have just seen more ice time at the varsity level. That same kid is still getting to suit up at a couple games during the season anyway. It does suck to see a kid who has put in a lot of time and whose parents have volunteered a lot over the years, but such is life.
