Little Falls/Alex

Post by shutout035 »

I just got home from the Little Falls Alexandria game in Alexandria. It was a good game. Alex does not have anything this year. Alex beat them 5-4 in OT. Shots were 31-25 for Alex. Festler had 3 goals and 1 assist and Lickteig had 1 goal and 3 assists. They are LF bread and butter, dont have much more then them. LF defence are dont have skill and slow, they will have to play some great defence to help out the goalie. Stoy played ok but not a number 1 goalie, he willn't be able to take the team anywhere. Also Kluver played JV and played bad from what i heard from a LF person. I should also mention that Alexandria did not play there number 1 goalie, and one of there top players sat out some of the game. Little Falls forwards are prety fast and that could be one of there strengths. Section 4A is shaping out to be prety competitive between Fergus Falls, Little Falls, and Wadena.

While this section may be competitive this has to be the worst this section has been in the past 5 years.....these teams are no where near the top four teams in the section the past 5 years......

Prairie Center v Wadena Score

Post by lovethegame6 »

0-0 tie?
No one is talking. Did the game get played? PC must have schooled the Wolverines, otherwise Wadena's fans would be talking.
Anyone know the results?

Wadena won 6-2. There was a brief writeup at brainerddispatch.com in the sports section.

I agree the section is way down, when i played a few years back, CIA, Park Rapids, Sauk Center, Luverne, long prairie and a few other teams were not for sure wins like they seem to have been in the past couple years. Some of these teams arent even playing anymore. Furgus was deffinately the dominate one, but Detroit lakes, WDC and Little falls were close behind. One year I think Sauk Center was a very tough team to beat. Dont know what is going to in the section, but the quality of play is no where near the play that is going on up here in this area, and alot of other areas of the state. What are some reasons the section is down, I dont understand.

section 4

Post by oldschool »

Salty:

The first reason I thought of is maybe not as big as what would be called a major reason, but, the loss of a good, established program like Detroit Lakes really hurt. No longer is the DL vs FF game mean a number one and two spot in the section. No longer does knocking off DL seem like it means that LF or Wadena will be challenging Fergus..(as in the past when Fergus dominated, wich I don't think is completely over). I do disagree with you on Wadena being close behind and not being that good anymore, they are, or were last year, better, probably the best team they have had. Little Falls is probably the one that gets overlooked the most, they are starting to and continuing establishment of a good program. A few things in section 4 have changed in 7 years, they have to. Fergus had a horrible year last year. The players had skills, they knew how to play, but lack of a quality coach(my opinion) and the fact that they had never really won anything or been taught to finish out a season(tournements and districts etc.) hurt them in their attitudes. I believe that the mshsl doesn't care about outstate hockey and beefs up the section where the attention is. Why kick DL out????why not let Sauk Rapids stay??? did section 2 or 8 need anymore??? I think not. Think of this section, Fergus Falls, Sauk Rapids, Detroit Lakes, Willmar, Little Falls, and Wadena.........doesn't look so bad.
On this season, I think it will come down to a race between Little Falls, Wadena, and Fergus Falls. Little Falls, and Fergus Falls will be the favorites entering the tourney.....and most likely, with Wadena, and Willmar available to upset some one, but not a serious threat. And in the back of everyone's mind, it will be Fergus' to lose...only saying that because of the fact that they somehow lost last year.......the team I saw against EGF would've anhiilated last year's otters...and would've walked through last year's section. I don't know what happened on Saturday in the Forks but I think it will be the exception this year. This team looks very much similar to maybe the 97 otters and with a few standouts yet to be determined, they could be as good as the 2002 version who was inches away from a state championship........
the game with Little Falls just gets bigger and bigger, after that, we'll know what it's going to be.

In 2000-2001, 2001-2002, 2002-2003 Sauk Centre had very solid teams, they finished ahead of Wadena all the years and ahead of them in 2002-2003....the talent in their program has dropped off as they had 2 good classes of kids during those years....Little Falls should be establishing it self as more top team in this section in next few years based on how their youth teams have done and assuming all of them stick around....I don't know what is going on with Willmar's program but they have been going down hill extremely fast, from a team that made appearances in Section 8AA's final four to this year getting hammered by a weaker St. Cloud Tech squad, and by St. Cloud Cathedrahl and Little Falls....I think it would make more sense for Detroit Lakes and even Park Rapids to be back in section or Sauk Rapids to get some quality teams....

This year only two teams will emerge from 4a Little Falls and Fergus Falls. Personally I like LF with their fast fowards but they do have goaltending problems and hopefully Coach Couture will start playing Jake Kluver who is much better in the net than Paddy Stoy. LF is also very inexperienced with many good young players, I give LF two years and they will be the undisputed favorite for 4a.

little falls has a few forwards, but need work on their defense and goaltending if they want to win the section. after the wadena/prairie center game, maybe wadena can pull it together and get something giong. fergus sounded good after the egf game, but then they got $%*^ stomped by red river and they have a couple injuries now. i think by the end of the season this could shape up to be an exciting section tourney, even though the teams arent as talented as previous years.

don't count out wadsvill just yet. Wadena killed Prarie center just like we were suppose to. and the otters got crushed by 10 goal wow thats ugly. i've seen football games with less points. I don't know about the flyer's but im sure their just as scared of the otters as we are<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> .
but seriously did ya get a good look at us at the excle center last season.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">
(Wadena Defending Section 4a Champs)

I got a good look at wadsville last year at the "EXCEL" Center, and I was slightly embarrased that I was there watching them stink of the ice making one mistake after another and having no brains on the bench making any corrections. They lost to A.L. for crying out loud after outshooting them almost 2 - 1. I must have seen the deffensmen shoot the puck into a blocker 10 times, instead of faking and passing, or pulling around the blocker. They need to have some sort of method to the madness and I just cant see it happening again this year. Little falls will probly be the victors coming out of that section. As much as I hate bashing on the team that Im down with in section 4a, Im going to do it anyway, because some of their fans need to wake up, Prairie Central isnt anything to brag about, Warroad would probly beat them at least by 20 points, so 4 points doesnt impress me much. Wadena has alot of work ahead of them if they want to even make it past first round in playoffs.

Ugly is a 1-4 loss to kittson central and a stomping by the Iron Range.........yes, 10-0 sucks, but, who's to say that Fergus doesn't beat Wadena this year 10-0, come on, the defending section champs 1-4 beaten by Hallock?
Schooled on the Iron Range and a measly win over an underachieving team that no one really expects anything from anyway. I've already given my excuses for that game, but I still stand by the fact that this Otter team is good...........

why doesnt everyone let the kids play and then talk $%!*. if you want to support your teams go for it, but all this bashing and arguing is getting old...it was the same way last year, who gives who beat who and who got stomped by who. let it go. theres still a lot of season left, so good luck to all the teams. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">

Classic, you are right.........thank you....but I think some on here(koonta) are still in high school and are drumming support for their team......we had a nice thing going, let's keep it up.
Fergus plays Fargo Shanley on tuesday, they beat Kittson Central, should say something in that game. The early seson showdown with Little Falls is next Friday and then Fergus gets to come home and play Rochester Lourdes, be the end of the week, we'll see who is who in section 4.

When did i say Wadena would win the section? I agree that the Flyers are the early favorite hands down.
But wadena has enough fire power to win alot of game with their shceudual. (ya the weak Wadena schedule)
Wadena had three key players out during the iron rang trip so those score don't dictate what type of team old wadsvill has.
Wadenas gaoltending has bean much more solid than i had ever hoped. through the first 4 games he had a 89.7 save%. not sure what it is now after the prairie center game but i have confidence its still up there.
(Keep up the good work nue guy<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> )
Wadena has three road games in a row coming up PR, DL, and the st Paul hawks. I know that these teams aren't that impressive but if wadsvill can put 3 wins on the road with our full roster i think we'll be alright.

oh and warroad salt you keep talking about the War road as if anyone on this thread cares.

I like the comment Oldschool said about koonta being in high school still, if he was still in high school maybe he could spell something correct once and a while, spell check would do you wonders koonta. And yes, I will use references to Warroad all I want, because that is what the Internet is for, anonymously slandering others and their beliefs while hiding behind the keyboard, haha, kind of stole that from Jay and Silent Bob, probly butchered it up a little. Don’t get me wrong, I love Wadena, but they are struggling this year, but I hope they come around and do great things. Koonta has a lot of home town heart and he played with more heart than most players do, and I respect that, and I’m not trying to bash Wadena too bad, was just expecting a little more from them. I cant believe my buddy brother got weeks, gonna have to drop kick him for that one.

dl.s got a great team i suspect when you guys get them old school your going to be surprizzzzzzzzzed. Lets not forget in the eleleth game wadena had them 3 1 in the third only playing 2 lines and 4 d. A couple careless gaining the next zone problems and they gave it away. Im thinking with the 2 senior d's back and the senior forward back they will be improved when they find their game. Im thinking its time to move you know who back to forward more fire power.Hey warroadsalt your soph brother looking pretty solid at defense, finding his speed and confidence. Anyways oldschool im stil surprizzzzzzzz as you on that lf and dl game but they are good this year.

he's doing great lots of big hits and his speed is up. Centers are starting to get the d zone better and i think they will start tightening down as a defensive team. The other bro has been getting alot of ice time up till the last game he was playing about every other shift. People are getting healthy again and eligible. So his time has been cut back. Hes lost some weight down to 224 from 240. Big diffenence on his speed
