Lee or Ammerman

Post by birdmister »

I know this topic was brought up earlier in the season, but now that everyone has seen them play in the state tournament which one do you beleive is better. I realize that noticeing Ammerman was not as easy as Lee because every time Lee touched the puck king Louie went crazy with his color commentary. (Louie was pretty quiet when Lee was unable to catch that AHA player on the breakaway, he also jumped on the AHA bandwagon pretty quickley after they took their 2 goal lead).

Lee had his goal, but defensivley Ammerman looked to be a more solid player too me. This is what I got from watching the tournament on the tv anyway.

Topic: Who had a better showing at the tournament?
Moorhead sets a new state tournament record!

Lee didnt do anything for me the whole tournament. Got burned a few times. After talking with some people down there, the general consensus was its between lee and niskanen for mr hockey

oshie didnt do much either, but his whole team is great also. those 3 are great players, but niskanen just stands out the most because he is above and beyond everyone on his team. hard to pick out oshie on his team tho, hardwick and marvin and them are very good. lee got burnt a few times down there

lee didn't do anything during the state tourney
\

how can you say that, i believe he got the whole team started with a goal against century, and had about 3 assists, and its not about the points it's how your team plays when hes on the ice, and Lee had a excellant State tournament.

Mr. Hockey

Lee played well in the first game- goal and an assist-handled the puck well and played tight defense.
Second game he was slow to the puck and glided to retrieve letting the Hounds get to him and tie him up. I have said it before about Lee, he let his partner do most of the work. He did not get the assist on the third or fourth goal. It was Vandevelde and Ammerman although his name was called he was not in the play.
Third game he was awful. The more I have seen him play, the less Impressed I am with him. He plays great against less talented teams. When he gets against better players, I have not seen anything. Connelly, Ammerman, Barta, Hummel had much better tournaments than Lee did although if you were only listening to Louie on the tv, Lee was the only player in the tournament this year. I wonder if Louie even watches the game or reads from a script.

To bad for Lee, I do not think he had a great tourney and anyone who watched and knows anything about hockey, can see that Ammerman had a better tourney. I feel bad for Moorhead they had a great team, but from the get go they put so much pressure on these KIDS!! We have to remember that. To tell them from the start that they should win the State is to much. In any given game a team can put together a game and beat the better team. And that is exactly what happend, Moorhead came out flat, they got a couple and it was uphill from there. A REALLY REALLY BAD CALL! and boom your out your dream! I said at the beginning of the game what are these two doing reaffing the game. To those two it is like they are trying to be in the spotlight. When they are there to ref a game not controll it. The Olson have always called penalty's at key moments in a game. and taken away from the momentom of the game
Any way funny thing that Lee got Mr. Hockey when he was the lowest point gettter of all the finalist. Not taking away from him I think he is a good player and a down to earth kid.
But com on TJ had what 95 points this year and RJ was in the eighties. You think politics has nothing to do with this. Think again. USA hockey would have looked pretty stupid if Lee didnt get it with them taking him on the US juniors team. Heck look at Moorhead's stats Vandvlde Ammerman and two others had twice as many points as Lee!

Does anyone know how many games, if any Lee missed for being on the National Junior team? That could have hurt his point total.
Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....

I am glad other noticed Louie's obsession with Lee. Kind of makes you wonder what he was doing under his desk during the games....<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/eek.gif ALT=":eek">

I just think lee got a lot more publicity than he should have throughout the season. Ammerman, VandeVelde, and Barta were all more impressive. Don't get me wrong, Lee is damn good, but some people in the state became overly obsessive.
Moorhead sets a new state tournament record!

Hey bird, what is this constant "Moorhead sets a new state tournament record" stuff? If you are referring to being runner up 6 times, you better check your facts out and look at Hill Murray as well.

Ammerman

Post by BDS »

I think Ammerman is a very skilled player along with Lee. They play two different styles of hockey. Ammerman is offensive and isn't affraid to make a mistake to he takes risks and tries to make the tought passes, and the long passes. Lee isn't affraid to make a mistake either but he isn't going to try to make that long pass just to make it. He plays a conservative game. If he can rush the puck he will or he will dish it off. I think Ammerman played better in the championship game but they both played very solid in the quarters and semis. If Ammerman was a forward he would have been a dominant force this year and probably would have and should have been up for Mr. Hockey.

Ammerman and Lee, possibly the best defensive pair ever for Moorhead

From what I saw during the tournament, Lee did not look like the kind of player that everyone had been talking him up to be. He made some pretty nice passes and scored one goal but that was pretty much all. Almost every time he tried to skate with it, he lost it. That first goal in their game against AHA was solely his fault. He let that guy get by him. I thought that Oshie looked even better than what i thought he would be. He is very skilled and he works as hard or harder than anyone else on the ice. VandeVelde looked really good, but he had some trouble capitolizing at a few points in the games.
